Saints are desperate to get more first rounders. We have the money and the draft picks to offer a ready made replacement for griff using pick 7. Still leaves us with pick 4 and 6 for talls. Lets explore that option of a ready made midfielder.

I think untradeable is no longer a term, which is exactly what our clubs recruiters should tell them IF we sit down. You target our captain with a contract 18 months out and now say your team in untouchable. I call Bull! Start with picks 4, 7 & 21 OR 4 plus our choice of player?
Or we walk outside and tell the media you are trying to rip us off.... Tell the media, "their loss, Griffen can sit on our list for a year". AFL won't like this solution as the want GWS to get a big name and will intervene. If they intervene by strong arming us at our end, just call a few of the other presidents, you get all the Vic ones plus Lions onside and then we get something closer to fair value. Other teams will know that if we get ripped like this, then it can happen to then just as quickly. Yes we are unfashionable, yes we get short changed but use our 1 advantage of being in Victoria the heartland of AFL. Use the other clubs here to make sure we get compensated. None of the other presidents would like what GWS has done to happen to them.

If we get pick 4 I don't really want to trade up. Confident Wright will be there, maybe even McCartin. Still sucks about that ****ing compo pick though otherwise we'd have pick 3 and be guaranteed McCartin/Wright/Petrecca.

JMac's quotes about entering this trade period "prepared" seem awfully ironic now. We were anything but.
I think trading a few second rounders to either St Kilda or Dees will move us up to the top 3. As long as we get 4&7 from GWS, we should be able to get into the top 3.
Not entirely sure we have the currency. 6&7 for 3 and an undertaking from Melb they take brayshaw with 2-assuming St. Kilda take Petracca?

So still moving pick 6 to 3? Yeah I guess I'd be pretty rapt with that to land them both. Depends what it costs though I guess because I'd be just as happy with one of them and Lever.
