I don't think Murph will be right for round 1, but the time he's ready we'll have injuries.

Add Suckling and Campbell to that bench and that's the nucleus of our core 25 or so.
We don't have a problem rotating heavily so we'll probably use most of the players on our list again like 2015 & 2016

Roberts sits behind Adams, Morris and Hurley (if we get him) meaning he plays VFL. Not to mention we already have Collins, Hamling and Cordy as depth. Now obviously Collins and Cordy will be given 2 - 3 more seasons to get to Afl Level and Hamling probably doesn't have as much currency as Roberts.

I'd be trading one of Roberts/Hamling (whomever has more value). Don't need 7 KPDs on the list. Remember this is if we got Hurley or another KPD. If not then our defensive stocks should stay the same.
Cloke vickery Griffiths vardy casbolt ect have all been muted around as possible key forward targets, some people think getting cover for Redpath is now important.

Now these guys all have question marks over them and would cost to bring them to the club, I don't think anyone would come without a 3 year contract.

Roberts Adams cordy and maybe even Hurley have all or all could play or pinch hit forward, so are the players we have better than any option than any player we are looking at bringing to the club ?

Also remember if we do get a Nicholls type ruckman it will mean Roughead plays more forward as well, plus we have to remember about injuries.

Would rather give a mature age state league key forward a chance via a low pick or rookie spot that a high wage list clogger

I've thrown this up (even though he is quite spuddish) but if Cam Pedesen is a DFA I'd consider signing him on a one year low pay deal. Depth key forward that plays in case of injury and gets Stringer away from playing as a tall. He probably going to offer more than any draftee or state level player in 2017 and would come cheap.

Again isn't fletcher Roberts just that? A mature age state (VFL) player. Unless he gets a 3 year offer from another club, I think he would be happy getting $120k + next year for playing his role for us, might mean the season with Footscray but if he went to Willy or port he won't be on anything like that.

Having players like Roberts who understands their role for the tear are just as important to have on your list, because they allow the club to spend money else where

So at the risk of being abused again isn't that what Jong is?

If we are fully fit he is playing a full year in the VFL next year so why do people think he deserves 3 years at 300+?

All Depth players should be on no more than 2 years and 250k at the very most. If they want more(and no this isn't only Jong) let them go we should never overpay for depth players they are everywhere.

100 percent agree mate.

Yep.
Ideally whoever we recruit as a backup key depth won't play a game at all if Boyd, Cordy and Roughead don't get injured, so why would we out-bid other clubs for somebody like Vickery or Cloke when in an ideal situation won't play a game at all?
Recruit the best player we can with the filter that they play for a draftee or minimum wage, whether that be a DFA from somewhere or a mature aged draftee etc.
As much as I think Vardy is finished as a player and pretty much a spud I'd much rather him on a minimum-contract as a DFA than I would spending $400k or whatever to recruit Vickery as a free agent.

Cordy isn't a lock. Not even close. Little as I rate them, Cloke and Vickery would smash him as a fwd.

If so, anyone else beginning to wonder why Moyd hasn't got another year yet?
I assume Hamilton would've been offered base salary and accepted it. Boyd asking for a little more?
