A little left field but I wouldn't mind having a look at Sam Lloyd from the Tigers. I believe he is unsigned next year. Has kicked 31 goals in 2016 as a small forward. Very clever and smart footballer. Imagine if he was playing in a decent team?

Strikes me as similar type to Dickson, not a genuine small forward

What are peoples thoughts on Marchbank (If we don't land Hurley)? He would be a good addition to our list.
Undersized and so far, unable to get any continuity in his footy. Comes from a fantastic family of good country footballers who are made of the right stuff but at 192cm is too small and light to play as a genuine key defender on good forwards. Pass, unless at a price too good to refuse.

Yeah I think he's one of few tigers that can hold his head high this year.

Only goalless twice this season. I'd certainly enquire. Not sure of his contract status.

Just going back a page or two in regards to Stringer...

As unrealistic as it seems, even if Stringer requested a trade to Essendon (not that it would ever happen), we're entitled to ask him to honour the contract extension he signed with us.

It's clearly a troll. If we are to trade a player to Essendon, it's almost certainly going to be one of our players that are currently out of contract for the very reason that we can't force them to stay because there's no contract in 2017 that exists to ask for them to honour.

2017 forward line

Daniel 15+ Boyd 30 + Dickson 45+
Stringer 45-70+ Crameri 30-50 McLean 20+
Bont 15 +
Dahl 15 +
Smith
Dale
Roughead
Suckling
JJ
Murphy
Libba
Cordy
Dunkley

This is our starting 6 forwards and how many goals they could kick IMO on the back of a solid preseason and good form.

There is another 11 guys who I have added who will at times next season "rest" forward and have the ability to kick multiple goals.

We don't lack firepower IMO, we just need to be better with our inside 50s and get more reward for our inside 50s

Dickson won't be best 22 next year IMO

Very optimistic that Dickson kicks 45 + next year. I'd be happy with 30 plus. Agree with the others but the cupboard is very bare in terms of goal scoring power. Even the VFL leading goal kicking is a VFL listed player. Plus virtually no Repath who can do a job too.

We certainly need more goal scoring firepower.

Trading Roberts as soon as he comes good is an act of stupidity, especially to a team that will be a close rival. Remember he's 4 cm taller than both Hurley and Adams so I would be very keen to to find a new role for him. Similarly Hamling is a quickish running defender with good disposal who we have also put a lot of work into. But how are we going to keep them if they aren't going to get regular games?

One good thing though, the delisting of Talia was the right call.
ARE YOU JOKING....

WRAP HIM NOW AND SEND>>>>

Roberts sits behind Adams, Morris and Hurley (if we get him) meaning he plays VFL. Not to mention we already have Collins, Hamling and Cordy as depth. Now obviously Collins and Cordy will be given 2 - 3 more seasons to get to Afl Level and Hamling probably doesn't have as much currency as Roberts.

I'd be trading one of Roberts/Hamling (whomever has more value). Don't need 7 KPDs on the list. Remember this is if we got Hurley or another KPD. If not then our defensive stocks should stay the same.

Morris goes on for one more year perhaps and takes medium forwards 2017.
Adams can take talls or mediums, Zaine looks set to be a swingman.

We're currently playing all of our fit defensive talls - if there's one thing the Bulldogs can count on, it's injury.

Zaine is being played out of position as a forward. He's a better defender. Adams comes back next week.

6 KPD (including talls and 3rd talls). I don't think Roberts would be too pleased to see us go after Hurley in any case. He knows he's in the gun (not best 22) if we got Hurley.

Thoughts:

2018-20 We will have 5 stars that we need to lock in.. Bont-Stringer-MaCrae-Hunter-Dal.

The great news is when this comes around these players will be out of contract..
Cameron GWS
Shiels GWS
Lobbe GWS
and another 10 :)

Then Gold Coast will have another 10 ..my point is the 4 teams I believe gunning for the Premiers will all have 10 players to lock in..
2017-2020
GWS
Gold Coast
Dogs
Melbourne

Saints will drop away once Rewault and the other 6 old farts leave

I tend to agree with this, Dickson could very quickly drop out the best 22.

I was showing every players best case scenario in terms of goals if everything was to go right for that player.

It will be interesting if we do get Hurley as I do think murphy and suckling will play more forward, adding Crameri with stringer and Boyd means other guys can get of The Chain.

Yeah Dicko is very good at one trick but that's the problem, he only has one trick. If he is played tight all game he is next to useless.

So as you said I think Murph and Suckers will play a lot more forward next year and with McLean and Dunks coming through and Crameri back I can't see him getting a look in inless injuries kill us again.

Discussion and rumour around star players moving clubs will become even more prevalent than it is now - with increased player movement it's inevitable. We can't claim that our star players are all going to bleed red, white and blue and take unders then speculate that Fyfe will leave Freo, Riewoldt or Martin should be leaving the Tigers, there are a bunch of gun mids in GC/GWS that we can get easily etc. You'd hope the club is growing one of the better cultures out there and that'll be an incentive to stay, but that along with a chance to win flags isn't the only thing people will consider.

Bottom line, if Stringer gets Boyd or Franklin money thrust in front of him I wouldn't blame him for looking for a trade. I'd be gutted, but you can't expect young guys with a short shelf life to turn down life-changing money without at least exploring it.

That said, I'd trust the club at this stage that they are all over this in their projections. Until there's a player that is best 22, that the dogs don't want to lose, and who moves for more money rather than greater opportunities (or similar) then the list management team are doing their job.

Imagining we get no one during trade period I think we go in like this next year.

Boyd Adams Morris
Wood Roberts JJ
McRae Libba Hunter
Murph Stringer Crameri
McLean Toyd Smith
Rough Bont Dahl

Int from : Suckers Picken Dunkley Cordy Webb Biggs Hamling

I'm prob missing someone but I don't see much that's useful at a flag tilt outside these blokes.
