If Essendon are interested in Cooney the deal should be pick 17 to us Cooney and a couple of 2nd rounders to Essendon.
They will need the extra picks too with the players going out and the draft exclusions.

That's way overs Essendon's way. I'd do Cooney to Essendon for a pick swap - we get #17, Essendon get Cooney and #27 (Higgins Compensation Pick.)

I know clubs overvalue their players (even Adrian Dodoro apparently) BUT
- Talia is a very late 2nd/3rd rd pick only. Played a handful of games, behind Austin and couldn't finish top 10 in the 2s B&F!
- Cooney is a 3rd round/pick upgrade player. I'd prefer to keep him, but the culture at the club has been a worry for a while and he is one of the major problems with it. Not the end of the world if he goes, but he's a very good player still. North could use his dash.

Please don't suggest that we get involved in a trade that includes Essendon. We'll have muppets on here from dawn 'til dusk, arguing about how some Essendon guy is worth Stringer, Macrae and Bontempelli - even though he hasn't played a game in 8 years and is about to be delisted....

If we have to deal with them on Carlisle - we will. Otherwise, they can get ****ed ........

I reckon Cooney plus our second for a club's late first (eg Hawks) would be the ideal scenrio for us. As others have mentioned gives us a good chance at McKenzie if we miss McCartin or Wright at 6.

Probably should have been more specific. I'm thinking more later 2nd round picks that we might pick up for players leaving. If it's the Higgins compo might have to throw in a 3rd rounder too. Can't see Cooney carrying much value.

The other way, is as someone suggested (can't remember who, sorry !) is to target GCS. Swap 6 and ???? to get Pick 8 and 15 (I think). Might have to swap a later round pick as well.

Would we swap a 2nd round pick and Minson to get a Gorringe plus pick 15 ??? NB - not a balanced trade, just a wacky suggestion....
