My view is the way we announced it so publicly, not have the coach be the one to deliver the news (apparently) has made it really hard for the club and player to reconcile should we get bad offers.

But as I said, if we can hold our nerve the pressure goes on the other clubs to make a deal or risk missing out on a star that doesn’t come up often for trade.

That’s how I hope we play it anyway. I’m liking the narrative that we want to determine where he goes, as we should

I read it the other way. Having someone other than Bevo deliver the news means that Bevo gets to put his arm around Stringer at some point and say "I wanted you to stay, always have, but McCartney thought you had currency and we could get something for you. If you can commit to me, I'll get McCartney to stop shopping you"

Agree he probably won't be players senior footy at the Dogs next year, but there's no guarantee we will let him do what he likes. The Deledio situation last season showed what happens when the preferred club tries to screw over the existing club

I am of the opinion that despite how media have portrayed this that Jake at the Dogs in 2018 is still an option and I wont try guess % chances of this happening.

There is a part of Jake that still wants to be at the Dogs (IMO) and there is enough statements coming from the club ( Gordon and Morris) that gives a sense that this is still a possibility that he can come back.

Having said that I think the club is also keen to move Jake for the "right deal or value"

So what it comes down to very simply is what does the club consider "right deal and value" for Jake.

Fact that Jake may choose a preferred club also limits the chances of getting what we may consider "right deal and value"

That's clear as day. He hates the Dogs for turfing him out and now identifies as Essendon. Apparently his unprofessionalism rubbed off on Stringer so the club couldn't wait to get him out of there.

No, it won't have. Clubs know the issues around Stringer anyway.
