How are we sitting on our hands here? We're losing Gia (and presumably have known it was coming for a little while at least), because we haven't immediately announced his successor doesn't mean we're just going to leave his position unfilled.

I am not saying that we are sitting on our hands because of Gia.

We have not been active in bringing in new assistants or line coaches for how long?

I look at other clubs and they seem to be bringing in new IQ, new assistants and line coaches more often.

couple off the top of my head (all these last 2 weeks)

Gia from Dogs to Essendon

Yze from Hawks to Melbourne

McRae from Tigers to Hawks

M.Boyd from Pies to West Coast

Yep. Gia has been with us for what, 20 years? At least? Needed a fresh perspective. This is great for his career.

There are some long term quality posters on here with a track record of getting good info. Many are in the footy business or close to particular players.

Importantly, it doesn't mean that the info pans out for a number of reasons and it doesn't mean the info was initially incorrect.

Many have stopped posting due to the crap they get from nobodies on here which is extremely disappointing.

Just thought this might be topical atm.

If people didn't post rumours or snippets they may have picked up we'd have nothing to discuss. Obviously not everything will come to fruition or be true, but what would trade period be without it.

He’s back in a commercial capacity mate. Nick Truelson, our CCO found him a role as part of coterie liaison.

265 game player, premiership winning assistant as well as 3 finals series in 5 years.
Also took our VFL team to finals in his first year as a head reserves coach.
Assistant Coach of the Year award to go with it all.

Impressive resume. Wish him all the best!!

Probably a tough task, but of all the current assistants, the one I have heard the most glowing wraps about is Michael Voss.

Port coaching setup wasn't flash a few years ago but have heard he made a massive difference.

AFL need to make a decision on list sizes very soon. How can you have a trade period starting, when list managers don't know how many spots on their list they have, how many draft picks to keep etc. Have had all year to work it out.

Sounds pretty accurate though.

Stepping back, landing a consensus no 1 draft pick (even though I think he's no 2) after making the finals is an outstanding get. Dare I say it - unprecedented.

Since 2015 what new Assistant Coaches have come in with new IQ, strong enough to challenge Bev, new forward structure and ways it can function?

With the lions having a stacked list we could assume he’s not your regular delisting.

Agree he can play. Could end up a Hamling type pick up.

I wonder how much the soft cap will hamper young lists over the next 2-3 years. The specialist coaches are most useful for developing players so you'd expect the mature sides to see less of an impact
