The other option IF English desperately wanted to go there would be the PSD if a trade couldn't be reached. Unlikely but possible.

On that note, I really think the PSD should be abolished given it serves no real purpose other than to threaten its use for trades.

There should be clear guidelines and rules on its use. Regarding max contract offer, how long they’ve been playing for and how many senior games played at previous club. You shouldn’t be able to walk a Jack Martin to the PSD if Carlton are offering him 600-700k a year. Someone on a 200-300k contract that is struggling to get a senior game I think is reasonable.

None of which are likely to be worth a first round pick. If English were to ask for a trade to West Coast they'd only be about to offer up a future 1st or find a 2022 1st round pick another way.
Their second round will be close to the end of the first round - they would have to do a deal to upgrade that pick a few places.

Why have it at all. Everyone into the national draft

No, but it is a device in West Coast's favour should the situation eventuate.

We've always had good relationships with the WA clubs in regard to trades.

Using, or threatening to use, the PSD would destroy that instantly for the Eagles.

I'd be shocked if they did it, even for Timmy.

Good news that we don’t have any LTIs yet but bit annoying we don’t have a midseason draft pick, other teams are utilising this avenue to talent which we don’t seem to be overly interested in - for example could have kept McCombs spot open in the rookie draft last year

We’ve got to give up something to keep others and sign a gun.
I’d be looking closely as Daniel being let loose to get some coin to top up Timmy’s offer and Alex and Ryan’s down back.
The Likes of Mitch, Stef, Toby, Zane not on heaps and not enough to attract Marshall from the Saints so need to let another loose. Young Westy wouldn’t be on much either. Hannan out of contract I believe could maybe free enough up but that would mean taking on a lot of kids. Maybe the next wave.
Hate losing so many but but retaining the 3 mentioned is important and Marshall would be awesome.
Now to find Dunks a media gig or juicy sponsorship to keep him happy

Tim English has committed his future to the Western Bulldogs despite strong interest from West Coast in luring the 24-year-old back home.

English has told his management group he is happy and settled in Melbourne despite the pull of home and his partner Rudi living in Perth as a professional netballer.
As revealed by the Herald Sun on Saturday, English was intent on rebuffing the Eagles when his management group flew into Melbourne on Monday for a series of talks with AFL clubs.
They have spoken to Western Bulldogs list boss Sam Power twice in recent weeks when the Dogs were in Perth and again this week.
While both parties will need to haggle on a deal — either a two-year deal to free agency or a long-term deal of up to five seasons — he is intent on remaining with the Dogs.
Tim English will snub interest from his home state to remain a Bulldog.

At his age and with his ability he would likely command a deal of over $700,000 per season.
Luke Beveridge wasn’t able to select English again this week as he misses again with a hamstring injury but his early season form has been stellar.
The Dogs have always been confident of retaining Josh Dunkley, Caleb Daniel and Bailey Smith but English had officially put off talks in the early rounds of the season to assess his future.
English’s manager Andrew McDougall, of Corporate Sports Australia, said in the pre-season: “He loves the club and he loves his teammates but he won’t be rushing into an early decision.”
The Dogs chose not to add another established ruckman in the off-season and have been rewarded with more consistency from English, who battled in the decisive third quarter of the Grand Final.

Yessss!!!!

Timmeeeee!!!!

What do others think the last sentence of the Ralph article means - ( English) who battled in the decisive third quarter of the Grand Final.”
Battled on or battled well? Means two different things to me.

That he struggled
My recollection though was that it was Martin in the ruck when they got their run on

Battled as in struggled. A 10 min period where Tim and Stef (and our mids) got completely dismantled.

Bailey Smith also said he was staying in the other HS article this morning.
