How does Melbourne fit him in under the cap??
If Jackson goes to Freo, they have plenty of cash to bring someone else in

A lot of Dees contracts are a mixture of back/front end
Gawn taken paycuts as well

Ive got an itch that Clarko will make a bold move for JUH and get in his ear before his contract is due for renewal in 2024.

A real plus this year was the Dogs making the 8 as we get JUH and Darcy types to experience September action.

That is good for retention long term and experience.

Would be good of the club to get some of the more formality type re-signings out the way in the coming fortnight. Create some positivity with some good announcements. McLean, Garcia, Duryea etc. Hopefully West as well.

It may be that we are waiting on Dunkley before knowing what's left in the cap for some of the others.

Agreed. I would've thought with Naughton, JUH and even Darcy down there, the message would be fairly simple.

Get it in there long and fast! But no, we chip it around, go backwards, handball to the point of insanity and by that time we've gone from 60 out to the back pocket.

The kick it long/get it in quick theory is one which stands the test of time no matter how complicated coaches make the game.
They are back to kicking it HIGH  bombing into the forwards who are never going to mark. Hawthorn kept many kicks low and direct. We did that against Melbourne with great success. Can't we learn from that?

Would be insane if we were to land Pick 1. That would be JUH, and Darcy could very well end up being the best player from last year's draft (maybe apart from Daicos). Baz could end up being the best mid from his draft. Our future would be sorted.

If Dunks is linked to North any chance we could have a dig at McKay?

My feeling is that Dunkley will stay. I have emotionally detached from him since his trade to the bombers was requested. If he signs long term I will be emotionally invested again though.

I suspect he will sign a Clayton Oliver/Angus Brayshaw type deal with us.

Keep an eye out on North chasing Dunks
That would make sense. A bull inside mid is the best way to become instantly competitive. They’ll need to sell it to Josh though. I’m not sure he’ll want to play a lone hand in a bottom 4 team protecting and guiding kids. Unless Clarkson really is all that, Josh will be sacrificing his career to earn the extra bucks.
