I'd be worried about Stocker. Voss doesn't seem like the guy to play favourites, he seems like he would reward buy-in, effort and a willingness to do the team thing. If Stocker was doing these, I reckon he would've been kept. Unless they really had no way to use him, but is someone is quality, you try to find a way.

If we are looking for a back with pace that is not going to cost the world, how about Petty?

The other one I'd take in a heartbeat as a backman would be McStay. Averege fwd but would help our backline out of sight.

Surely you are better served recruiting a Stocker type than a McComb type
This is a tricky one. It depends on values of the club or coach.

Stocker is talented but from reports has alienated the playing group and lacks discipline.

McComb has discipline in spades and will do what every it takes to make the team and play his role

I think it’s pretty clear what our coach prefers.

No.
Stocker may get the kick up the backside he needs and works hard for once in his career….
OR
more likely blows his next chance on an AFL list.

This is one situation where the Blues are doing the right thing…. Maybe for the first time in decades…. Good on them!

How quickly they forget. Both of them took on the greatest forwards we've ever seen Dunstall, Lockett, Ablett and they held their own. They would wipe the floor with today's forwards. They would be physical, tough, in your face and that's what we're missing right now.
Kretiuk would get reported on an almost weekly basis in today’s AFL.

Held their own? Dunstall kicked 14 out at Waverley one night when nearing retirement in a struggling Hawthorn side. Do you remember what Neitz and Lloyd would do to us when we played those mobs? Stuff of nightmares.

As individual players, they were good honest players and loyal clubmen and much loved accordingly. No issues there. Wipe the floor with today's opposition forwards they would not.

Forgive me if I don't pine for sub 190cm defenders from 20 years ago because they had aggression.

Where I will agree is that right now we are not tough enough. That's all over the ground, not just the back end.

It's getting funny now Krusher is 1cm smaller the Libba who has a somewhat similar amount of aggression do we chick him down on Max King or Tom Lynch now and give up 20cm for that?

Agree,
Kretiuk a fine player in his day but was more a back pocket player who punched above his weight. Forwards now are so much bigger than in the past. Ablett was around 6'1, Dunstall 6'2, Lockett 6'4, Lloyd 6'4. All much bigger than Kretter but nowhere near the giants of today like King, Lynch, Riewoldt, McKay, Daniher, Naughton, darcy, Hipwood, etc.
Every team now has forwards that are 6'5 plus. In the days of Kretter that would be like matching him on Luke Darcy.
I always loved Kretiuk and his game attitude but he would be a lockdown defender, tagger type these days.
Southern and Croft were great serviceable role players in the day. I would liken them to Vlaustin and McIntosh at Richmond, you rarely get a bad game and they always do the role they are expected to do.
Nothing wrong with that, generally the players that are selfless are always the ones that are loved by the members the most.

Some interesting photos of a worse for wear Zaine floating around. Nothing sinister but the irony of Libba to be the one helping him. It might be a nervous wait for a new contract for Cordy.
Ryan Gardiner leadership material too.

Zaine’s probably a nice bloke but he’s never exactly come back from a break looking jacked. Nothing abnormal about a player overdoing it on Mad Monday but to do it when you’ve had a poor season and you’re out of contract (and it looks way too early in the day)…

Zaine eat something that did not agree with his stomach?

Do you really think getting tanked at mad Monday affects his retention status?

Nah that's OK we'll just go with powder puffs Cordy and Gardner, always works well. Hack forwards never get the better us with those two down there 🙄
