I've been following this forum for a long time but after such a frustrating year I feel compelled to join in here. As an Adelaide based supporter I've got a couple of suggestions. Firstly if you reckon we manage our list badly check out the Crows! They are ripe for ransacking but not Rowe. He's not what we need. Firstly I'd be grabbing Frampton. Tall (291cm!), strong and at 26 he is better value than Liam Jones. Then grab Crouch for a 30 plus possession midfielder. And finally they have a massive unit ruckman that is a hit out machine playing in the sanfl. His name is Kieran Strachan and he's originally from Port Melbourne. 204 cm and just smashes out 40 to 50 taps a game and can mark and kick some nice goals. My old man is a Crows supporter and reckons he's due to go to another club coz he's too good for sanfl. He would free up English to spend more time forward. And a draft prospect is Central District mature age (22) intercept defender who flies for everything with no fear called Rhett Montgomerie. Had a breakout year and has been invited to draft camp. There's a midfielder, a tap ruckman and 2 proper defenders that are ripe for taking. Leave Rowe alone and go for what we need.

291cm is Darcy like projections…

Easily an upgrade on any of our tall backs.
We are going nowhere with Cordy. Isn't a key back, not a forward, second ruck will be filled.
Cordy has 2cms on Melican but Melican 2 extra kgs. Melican looked very reasonable I think it was 2019. I think he was injured much of 20 and 21?
McCartin has a couple 2 cms on him and 5 kgs and the Swans have Tom McCartin at 194cm, Rampe who plays tall, no wonder he was squeezed out.

The sooner we learn this, the better. Week after week, year after year, the image I have is Cordy trailing his opponent before conceding a simple mark and usually goal. Got to end this off-season. Gardner is a back flanker at best. As for the rest of our backs, scrap them.

Put Jones and Melican down there, trade for the best mature KPD out there, draft a mid sized back or two and put in place a proper defensive strategy so we don't look completely clueless next year.

Yer, I have seen Strachan play a couple of games on TV and he looked promising to me. He is a monster and at the time I thought he would go places. Kind of forget about him after he seemed to fall out of favour at the Crows. Wouldn't surprise me if a club picked him up., if he is dominating in the SAFL.

Yeah, they were hard, but battlers and most would struggle nowadays barring Southern, who would’ve been a gun if not for injury.
If you think that Croft and Kretiuk were only battlers you either have a very short memory, are easily influenced by AFL media at the time or have a completely different definition of a battler to me.

What do you think of Casey Voss? Heard he could be a good option at HBF.

How quickly they forget. Both of them took on the greatest forwards we've ever seen Dunstall, Lockett, Ablett and they held their own. They would wipe the floor with today's forwards. They would be physical, tough, in your face and that's what we're missing right now.

This is an outrageous call. Both were very good players.

Steven Kretiuk would be in my top 3 favourite Bulldogs players.

Pretty sure melican is a Kelly type isn't he? He's best is 1on1 and has some pace about him.

I’ve always thought Melican was slow and lacked agility. Always seemed to be trailing forwards, unless its just that his reactions are slow. I did think Sam Collins was too slow and immobile for AFL and was completely wrong about that but I just don’t see it with Melican.

I just don’t think he is the answer, regardless of how cheap he would be.

Melican is definitely slow. He still might be a decent pickup but he's not going to transform our backline thats for sure

Maybe battler was a little harsh, but neither were world beaters IMO.

Honest players.

Crofty and Kretiuk would wipe the floor with today’s forwards? Which ones?

Me too. People remember Kretiuk as a limited defender but could also be very effective through the midfield. I remember him going head to head with Nathan Buckley as a ruck rover one day and carving him up ( Buckley only had 10 disposals).

Kretters could do just about anything despite playing injured nearly all the time.

Would be in the starting 18 of my all-time Dogs best team
