Completely random, but Ricky Nixon has suggested that Dunkley move was motivated by some players on ice at the club. Been an issue for a while apparently and definitely during pre season.. also happened at Hawthorn a few years ago

It’s all those Bailey’s isn’t it?

Someone needs to explain why we gave Crozier 3 years instead of 2 ? I know he was best 22 at the time but who was going to steal him? This is not the only example. Even the Mccomb re signing in August. Rookie spot but we got so many premiership players from there. Mccomb will never be one.

Perhaps he's on ice. That would be closer to the mark.

Yes so what, 5% upgrade
Keith and Jones will be 31-32 next year. That leaves Gardner as our only KPD on our entire list.
Even if we draft in a bunch of Key Defenders in this draft, it'll be 2-3 years at best before they hit their straps. We desperately need some cover there. 5% is better than playing Caleb Daniel at full back.

Ricky Nixon. eh?

As a reminder, dunks leaving means we lose the final part of the Charlie Curnow downgrade trade which got us Dunks and 1 gamer Kieren Collins.

Let's hope we can turn that into one or 2 very special players.

If the Lions won't satisfy us in a trade, am I correct to assume that Dunkley's options essentially become either:

A) Re-sign with us; or
B) Go to the preseason draft and get picked up by a club like North?

In that event I'd imagine he just re-signs with us.

If that's the lay of the land then we actually have quite a bit of leverage.
Could also nominate for the national draft like Luke Ball did back in the day.

The clowns on trade radio (in the 10 minutes I listened to) said if Lions get pick #7 in the Bowes deal they could probably take Dunkley there, seemingly ignoring that the pick would get chewed up straight away for Ashcroft. Admittedly they could trade #7 for a future first and then move that back (with a different team) after matching on Ashcroft.

Zaine Cordy lost 60% of his defensive one on ones this year…. 60%

Now for a player that can’t kick and takes 0.2 intercept marks per game, that’s just not acceptable is it?

Why do we have a 2yr contract in front of this campaigner? Surely one at the absolute max whilst we reassess our tall options will do? Please someone take him
Age? Height? Usually makes good decisions with disposal, can be a swing man (kicked 2 in GF), team player, BOG on Mad Monday? Handles being the whipping boy well?

Crozier was 26 and had just placed top 10 in the B&F two years in a row. Ideally the 3rd year would have had a games trigger but not entirely unreasonable.

Agree on McComb and (at the risk of being repetitive) Hannan was the other bizarre one for me. I’m not saying Hannan should necessarily be off the list but extending him before he came back from a long concussion layoff and was about to be moved to a new defensive role he’d never played before was a bit odd.

So now looks like 6 Out of contracted with one being a rookie. Need min 3 for draft.
Jones and Lobb? Make it 4 but seems Hunter to make it 5. Thinking they hoping Cordy signs which is 4. Still room for a trade and 3 on draft. If not Cordy I’d try and keep Schache in case we get a horror injury rum with talls

Surely a player like Narkle who at least has talent and upside is a better prospect than Mitch Wallis who despite being a good clubman, isn’t likely to play another game game for us.
Different players and upside is with Narkle (maybe, he’s no kid though) but I’d still take Mitch as a footballer every day of the week over Narkle.

Yeah, I didn’t understand the McComb one at all.

Like fair enough as a last list spot or whatever late and everything else fell though, sure, but there was no hurry in August to re-sign him.

Wallis still offers 100x more as depth.

Who the * else watches footy as a list manager and goes hmmm you know what we need Zaine Cordy
If Cordy was played as a 3rd tall in a better defensive system he could play a role. His downfall is he isn't athletic enough to hold up in our system without massive upfield pressure.
If he does go I wish him the best of luck , has given his best to the club
