Because Cordy although he’s not good never has games where he is genuinely shocking. He played in a premiership for a reason. Schache has had his chances and has show he isn’t up to it hence Cordy is getting other offers and Schache isn’t

I do recall Curnow who had never done much a couple of years ago kicking 7 where a huge amount if not all were on Cordy. His one on one defensive win rate is off the charts bad. I rated Jones 8 years ago you can check the posts if you want, where I felt in a similar way to Schache now that he hasn’t had a clear run at it. Even if it’s just a depth option I’d much rather Schache come in at either end to Cordy.

So what are we expecting in return if Cordy goes? Steak knives?

Was there any reason why Dunkley wasn’t convinced to sign a 3 year deal 2 years ago to take him to Free Agency?

I’m well past questioning him and why he wants to go, just seems an oversight by his management from an outsiders view.

Like he would’ve got the same deal, if not more at the end of 2023 and just walked to wherever he liked.
Would have been restricted (top 25% of earners) so we could still match and force a trade.

If Brisbane don’t pony up he can go to the PSD or sign a 1 year extension on $$ to not quite be in our top 25% of earners and go wherever he wants in 12 months (likely we’d get band 1 compensation).

If we just could've put Cordy's appetite for the contest and mongrel into Schache's body and skillset then we just might've had something special....
If Corey’s appetite for the contest results in him losing 60% of his 1-on-1 contests imagine what he’d do with Schache’s appetite.

Schache has never had anywhere near the run Cordy’s had, one bad game and he’s out. I think Schache’s shown far more at afl level than Cordy, in 2019 when Schache did get a run of games he kicked 24 goals in 14 games.

100%, it's like he knows he will be dropped for one mistake, clearly the MC don't rate him, which is a shame because some need time and patience, a bit like the bloke who is loved or hated depending on your side of the fence, Gardner. He has certainly had plenty of opportunities in his 7 seasons and 45 odd games

Jones, Keath, Gardner and Khamis is actually a really solid defence (if jones / Keath can get back to their best)

We definitely need to draft some tall defenders to have developing in the twos though and incase of backup.

Really, Jones is 32 and hasn't played for a year so the jury is surely out, Keath was terrible late, Gardner is an average footballers who punches a lot and Khamis has played very little game time, our structures have been terrible and this combined with the personal made us terrible defensively.

old mud guts Cordy has been a good servant, premiership hero, solid defender since, lifts in big games and moments, but he is as slow as treacle and cant kick over a jam tin, not a big loss
Rarely misses your jam tin if close enough using either foot. Looks as awkward as kissing your grandmother but it still hits the tin.

Did he? He had a good game against the Dees but looked pretty poor this preseason
You dislike Schache. We get it. It is boring.

Schache is simply a more
talented footballer than Cordy is.

I will forever be greatful for Cordy kneeing Ward in the head, tackling that guy and kicking the first goal in the GF 6 years ago. Unfortunately he is now a very average back man and kind of fat. He has done nothing since 2016.

Schache has the potential to win games. Cordy had the potential to win sculling contests.

Zaine Cordy is 100% gone and has told his teammates

Pretty happy with the semi clean out we seem to be having of a few guys that have been pretty average for years now & still playing regular games. Still plenty more to go and whilst it doesn’t seem we’re going to be bringing too much experience in I’m pretty keen to refresh the list with some good kids
