Apparently not. He quit it all together for this year.Does anyone know if Fischer McAsey is playing footy anywhere this year? I know that it was reported that he lost his passion for playing at the top level after he quit the Crows.
If we really want KPD cover I'd be all for grabbing Ethan Phillips at the MSD.Does anyone know if Fischer McAsey is playing footy anywhere this year? I know that it was reported that he lost his passion for playing at the top level after he quit the Crows.
Any reports on his form in 2023?If we really want KPD cover I'd be all for grabbing Ethan Phillips at the MSD.
First Fothergill medalist for about 15 years not to get drafted. 198cm and marks the ball. Should be on an AFL list.
Only stats - seems to be a continuationAny reports on his form in 2023?
Thought we might have taken him last year, but maybe thought was Darcy could pinch hit there. Strange none of the clubs looked at him. Hope we do look at him or Luke Teal. SOSOD looks like a good pick up, but may be more a tall hbflanker or wing.If we really want KPD cover I'd be all for grabbing Ethan Phillips at the MSD.

If our 'mediocre coverage' includes Keath and Bruce - I'd be surprised if either are on our list next year.I would only be going for a KPD in the MSD if we are certain they can be a long-term contributor. We are fine for mediocre coverage there but could do with some additional small/medium depth.
I suspect both are on our list next season to be honest with you, for the reasons you describe here. Either way, we do need to add more defenders to the list, I agree, but the key advantage of the mid-season draft is that you can slot someone in right now. We'd benefit more from some extra runners than we would a KPD right now in my view - so if we're going tall, you'd want to be fairly certain they're going to be around for a long time.If our 'mediocre coverage' includes Keath and Bruce - I'd be surprised if either are on our list next year.
That leaves us with a 33 year old Jones, Gardner who misses games every year through injury, and Buss who is firmly in the 'still developing' bracket. To me, that leaves us a bit light on.
TOB plays intercept and is in no way a KPD so his exclusion is deliberate.
True, we definitely need outside run but the chances of anyone we add in the MSD overtaking Williams, Baker & Scott are pretty low I'd suspect.I suspect both are on our list next season to be honest with you, for the reasons you describe here. We're ****ed on a couple of lines imo..True, we definitely need outside run but the chances of anyone we add in the MSD overtaking Williams, Baker & Scott are pretty low I'd suspect.
Teams tend to use it for longer term planning now anyway (e.g. last year where teams hoovered up rucks)
Interesting as many on this board were watching him for the draft. Even talk of him going 2nd round. If we really want KPD cover I'd be all for grabbing Ethan Phillips at the MSD.

I only watched one half of a port Melbourne game. My uneducated criticism is that he was a tad slow and was a kick mark player.Interesting as many on this board were watching him for the draft. Even talk of him going 2nd round.
But zilch in the end. Not sure why?
Agree you'd take a free hit. Grew a couple of inches after his draft year. The definition of a late bloomer.
I liked Teal in his draft year. Very solid player who just does his job.Any other good MSD targets people can think of? I agree some outside run forward of the ball would be handy, not sure we’re that light on for any defenders right now smalls, mediums or talls. Unless as Dannn said they’re actually genuinely best available and have a potential future.
If we go tall I wouldn’t want a middle ager at all, would have to be a 19/20yo that was overlooked but has shown good improvement this year etc IMO
That ship may have sailed for Sweet. Bailey Williams is finally starting to look like he could be a competent ruck (who knows what his ceiling is but he at least doesn’t look completely out of depth anymore) and they’ve picked up Barnett to develop, in addition to already having Naitanui in the short term and Jamieson as developing depth. I’d be surprised if they took Sweet nowWe're ****ed on a couple of lines imo..
Our key defenders are on their last legs with only Buss and probably Jones looking like lasting beyond next year.
We only have Darcy and Lobb as back ups to English and they are only part timers. Sweet will be snapped up by WCE or similar.
Doedee, Croft and Lual without touching our first two would be bloody awesome. Looks at this stage sounds like if we take Lual it’d have to be one of our first rounders though, I’d be fine with that (if he ends up being best available or very close to it Ofc, no idea about him or the draft personally) Considering he fills a big need.IF we can pick up Doedoe, Croft for anything outside the first round, and 2 midfielders with first rounders ... looking pretty rosey to be honest.
Croft could end up playing either end and then there's plenty of depth at both ends even if Keath and Bruce left ... I'd say one would stay at least though.
Somehow also picking up Lual would make opposition supporters lose their minds so hope it happens
