Having Bramble, Baker and Poulter on the list for 2025 is funny.

It’s a cycle of picking up rejects, flirting with them for half a season, going prematurely with the extension then soon after realising that they’re kind of shit.

Bramble has been really lucky that we’ve had a lot of injury forced changes this season week to week.

One year for Bramble is probably okay as long as it’s an example of us having learned about those dumb two year deals. Poulter and Baker would likely both be delists were they out of contract this season.

It’s not surprising given we view Bramble as a walk up start, but there’s no real reason to go early with an extension given his actual career prospects. There would be no competition for his services and every chance we fall out of love in the next few weeks like we have with others. Of course a one year minimum isn’t a big deal in isolation though.

I think Bramble has been ok.
Ditto.

Whipping boys get no love at all on BF. We want to move the ball faster, you need guys willing to take those risks.

The 1 year for Bramble isn’t the issue, it’s doing it now. Zero risk anyone else would give him a deal.

Having a read over on the eagles forum and they are pretty much in agreement Busslinger plus whatever first rounder we get from hawks if baz leaves for barass hypothetically

That seems like way overs from my point of view , was thinking more along the lines of Busslinger and possibly a second rounder from us being thrown in would be fair ? I feel even the second ontop of Busslinger is generous .

Barass at he’s best is probably one of the best key defenders in the comp but will turn 29 this year so it’s a lot to cough up for him. What’s everyone else’s thoughts ? Good player but would probably rather hit the draft at that cost

Are we 'retooling' or are we contending to a degree that Barrass/Stengle are appropriate targets for likely high prices?

Coaches and list management need to be on the same page. Too often that has not been the case.

I wouldn't want to entertain a deal for Barrass and I certainly wouldn't want it linked to any potential Buss deal.
Eagles will rightfully ask for overs for Barrass as he is a contracted player but from a buyers point of view it's too high of a price to pay for someone who is rapidly approaching the end.

lol they need to get off the drugs.

What exactly do they think Collingwood would give them for him? They’re looking at a late first from Collingwood at best given his age and how banged up he is. If they think they’d get much of anything on top of Busslinger for him they’re delusional.

I can just see us being fooled into thinking he’s the last piece of the puzzle and doing a stupid deal like this. We get 1-2 years of a declining Barrass and they get 10-11 years of Buss.

Yuck.
