Awesome, let’s get pick 4 & pray for McKercher but would minimum be Duursma or Watson who are great fits for our list.

If there is any merit to the Xavier Duursma chat, realistically what do we think he’d cost? How can we get both him & pick 4

I'm not against the trade for 4 BUT wouldn't trading out two firsts for a single first then having to use a few second and third rounders to match Croft hit our depth levels again?
Is it any different to taking 10 and then using 17 to trade down to match Croft though? Realistically in either situation you’re getting 1 top end talent & Croft and then late picks, it might mean we have an extra pick in the 30s or 40s I guess but I’d probably rather the real top end pick over that.

Ideally we’d get two top picks in before Croft but doesn’t really look viable

Also the talent at pick 10 is definitely a tier down than the talent at pick 4.

Not a strong draft and if there is an outside mid or small fwd there at 4, I think we have to take it.

Port would probably want a 1st rounder for Duursma since he's in contract. Better to wait next year for him particularly if we draft his brother and he's out of contract then.

I really want Lual. How do we get him with trading for pick 4 and spending a bundle on Croft? Trade back in?

You would be trading 17 for a future first/early second rather then matching it for points. So realistically you could take Wilson + Croft then trade the future pick back in for pick 20ish or leave the pick for next year.

If we get pick 4 we'll be able to bring in an elite kid early + Croft. There's a significant risk that #17 would be used for Croft if we held onto it anyway so we need to move it in a deal.

In terms of matching a Croft bid, I'm hopeful of receiving WCE 3rd rounder for Sweet (with later shuffling of picks). Along with ouR pick #36, that should be enough to match a Croft bid.

We then have #63, #66 & #71 which all should move up significantly due to bid matching and we take these picks to the draft. The club must bring in at least 5 draftees this season.

Yeah, I just really want Lual haha

I know we'll need to deal with someone to move up, and that's not necessarily that easy unless you want to pay over the odds, but I can't imagine we'd sit at 10 given at least a few of the teams in front of us could do with KPP depth and would be willing to make us pay.

If we don't end up with the GC pick it'll be an interesting evening, can't see who else would be amenable to a trade unless they're getting an amazing deal. I don't study this enough though, anyone think there are any other clubs picking before us who we think might be open to this?

Power on gettable said we'll have anywhere between 2 and 4 national draft picks.

I'll hit up the phantom drafts to see our options!

Top 6 will most likely be Reid, Walter, Curtin, Duursma, McKercher, and Watson, with the top 3 pretty much locked and some fiddling with the order of the rest of them. If w have pick 6 after the Walter match, we get whoever’s left. Do reckon it’s about a top 6-8 this year (Sanders and O’Sullivan right around that tier or just below it). Similar to 2018 where there was a top 8 (including Blakey) and we had pick 7, we were getting the one that was left.

Koschitzke talk is interesting. Hawks drafted him as a defender and was on the verge of be delisted a couple of years ago before he was swung forward

Yeah next year probably makes more sense, although maybe Port might be keen this year seeing as they have no picks and seem to have a few targets in mind so gonna have to lose someone you’d think. I don’t really think he’s worth a first to be honest, pick 17 5 years ago now and hasn’t really found his feet yet but yeah being under contract that’s probably what they’d ask for
