That game just showed us again that our outside mids and small forwards need a huge upgrade. We constantly got smashed on the spread and struggled to shut down outlets. The good thing is bringing in those types of role players normally doesn't cost a lot. I'd be trying for 4-5 pick inside the first 40 and focus on fast energetic types with at least average disposal. If 2 of them can displace VDM/Daniel/McNeil from the best 22 we will be a much better team.
Nailed it

what’s peatlings speed like ? Go hard for him and odriscoll add some speed to the outiside . I’d reach for waylen davey Motlop in the draft and add some much needed speed and X factor into the forward line . Can just tell he’s got something special about him

So far need to get that midfield mix right. Grabbing Peatling will be the priority now. Our young group is a step behind the hawks young brigade. Another year into them will help. A surprise Smith Re-sign will be good too but unlikely to happen.

Smith is all but gone and will request a trade to Geelong. The rumors about him buying a house down there are spot on

We should be trying to get as many future picks as we can so we can go hard at Butters next year.

What do we need to throw at Butters to get him here. Would love to see him in our colours, feel like we’re lacking a fair bit of mongrel currently and he brings that in spades.

Yep, screw waiting, go for him now. A ruthless club would. Got to be aggressive for a change. Sick of being meek on field and meek off.

honestly hope we attack the trade period hard this year we have been soft on it the past 2 -3 years since we lost the granny when we should of attacked it years ago

would love butters but that seems unrealistic

besides peatling do we seem to be into anyone else?
Not sure we have the picks or future cap to do much.

When did Peatling become a priority? He only got linked yesterday and most posters know nothing about him.

We might be able to cobble together a package of:
  • Smith compensation (1st and 2nd?)
  • our 2025 1st (can match potential F/S prospects in that draft with later picks)
  • Garcia?

Port may still view that package as lacking however, and Butters probably isn't looking to move this year.

VDM and McNeil filled a role this year in the absence of competition. But they are extremely limited players with skills that are well below standard.

AJ only came good at the end, Clarke meh, O’Driscoll retired.

Upgrading those two positions to at least average players is crucial. McNeil and VDM will do what they’re told and are good, quick runners but will most likely cause a breakdown in any chain they are involved in. For their positions they also registered alarmingly few goals between them.

Power has to find a way to optimise those spots. We may get something out of AJ next season but I wouldn’t rely on it, and Clarke may not even be on the list.

Hey Zac come to the Victorian version of the shit show that you're in now...😆
He's a heart and soul player who never gives up and he's a through and through doggies man. At least with him we won't have players clearly giving up like we had tonight. And why THE **** was the Bont at Full Forward in the 2nd and 3rd quarter while Newcombe just walked out of the centre square like he was on a sunday stroll.

Hey zac, please come back

My biggest concern now is Jones. I think he really struggled since coming back from injury. 34 next year…
We need to bring on the next generation Busslinger needs to be tried as he is the future of our backline. Play him alongside Jones next year to fast track his development as the future fullback. Push JOD to become the medium defender has the wheels and disposal to be effective

Bont had to be carrying an injury right for him too not be in the guts while the match was ripped away

We are not going where we should and we won’t ever get there when we have a timid player where it all starts.

Meek was able to use his body to create space for his mids.

I don’t want a ruck who can link up and moves like a mid and can spread I want a ruck who can bruise hurt and put his big body and ass to create space and give power to his mids and can bang and crash
