There’s a lot to play out but we could be looking at a decent pick on draft night.

I see GWS, saints and tigers having the need and draft hand to grab him before cats.

The AFL has a method for players changing clubs outside of free agency. It's an amicable trade.

Otherwise go to the draft... And if you want to tamper by dictating where you go, good luck. As pathetic and crooked as the AFL are, I can't see them standing for it.

For the record, I see the cats coming to the table. They've been paying him for the trade via cotton on for the past 2 years.

Really sounds like he’s on the nose.

Reasonably high draft picks usually get beyond their first contract unless something has gone wrong. First game was poor but he’s in good company there.

He really is a lot like West who took some time developing that small forward type role. Has work to do but agree it is his best chance to be best 22.

A little different to West so the 2 of them could change the dynamic there possibly replacing and adding to VDM or McNeils role

That’s where him and westy should be playing. High half fwd, rotating as 4th and 5th mids. Both can snag a goal and bring a bit of cu$t to the middle when required whilst providing fwd pressure when fwd.

The other interesting play would be Richmond if they end up with pick 14 (becomes pick 17) currently with the Hawks but likely gets to them via the Tom Barrass and Liam Baker trades.

If I was Richmond's list manager I'd be getting on the phone to Bailey's management say:

• He's too good for us to pass on at pick 17 so he's not getting to Geelong via the ND.
• We'll give him the #4 jumper, he'll play full time midfield and we'll back ourselves in that he wants to stay long term.
• Alternatively, if we're going to pick him anyway we'd much rather Bailey just join us for free through the PSD.
• If he agrees to come via the PSD we'll do a handshake deal to trade him for a single first round pick if he still wants to get down to Geelong in 12 months time.

Basically they either get Bailey long-term for free, or they get him for 12 months and then an extra 2025 1st rounder.
