Kennedy is a younger cheaper version of Macrae + we get a nice pick for Macrae

There is actually no issue but some will still complain.

It's a low cost pure depth move and gives us the flexibility to move on Macrae & Daniel for solid draft selections with some adequate senior cover. Kennedy would be able to provide what Macrae did in 2024 (if we needed him to actually play).

Matt Kennedy. 19 games at GWS. 99(!) games at Carlton. Hope we get him to 100 with us so we can nab any decent offspring. Turns 28 early next season, so if he plays until he's 33... ish!

Macrae deal would be getting close if we’re expressing interest in a replacement, and I can’t see us doing the trade for anything other than their 32.

I'm not complaining, just sh1t stirring. Tbh, until an hour ago, I could have told you he was a Carlton player... and that's about it. Oh well, he's one of ours now, so guess I'll get his name tattooed on my back like every other player we've had since the early 70s...

He's very solid defensively as an inside mid and as a big bodied tackler in the contest which we seemed to miss at points last year. Gets a ton of the footy when playing midfield and is decent as a fwd, better fwd than the likes of Macrae, Harmes, Sanders etc. His issue is speed and outside run / chasing the ball carrier, which is poor and not a guy you can play in the VDM / McNeil spot.

Purely person nah but think he is a roleplayer that can play several positions something macrae and Daniel really couldn’t so it’s an upgrade there, heck he can even pinch hit in the ruck, Darcy playing less ruck sounds good to me

So an accumulator who is slow and can't put pressure on the opposition? ☹

Matthew Kennedy literally got 30 touches in a game 4 games ago.

He's not a star but he's a better footballer than the likes of Riley Garcia, surely.
