People are lauding Carlton's wheeling and dealing to get pick 3, but they've ultimately used their first rounder, F1 & F2 to get there.

For a list without a heap of young talent, that's a lot of eggs in one basket.

Will be very interesting to see who they've targetted.
Shafting Kennedy and Owies screams future cap issues too.

Especially in a draft where all reports are of a standout 10-15 rather than elite to 3-4

So, Kennedy has never played more than 17 games in a season before this season and has only played 118 games in 9 years. On face value this doesn't fill one with a lot of confidence but somehow he must have improved recently I guess. I'm right on the fence with this one.

Being fair, it’s been injury more than form. He’s played when fit the last few years.

Of course that means we have to worry about how often he’ll be available but I think he’ll squeeze into the 22 when fit.

The other thing strange in the reactions here is the talk about pace.

Yes we need to improve our pace.

However unless you were Stevie Wonder or Jose Feliciano we all saw how we were monstered by the Hawks Big bodied mids, and by Cripps for a fair portion of the Blues game. It is one of the main reason I would like Freijah to develop there, Kennedy buys us a couple of years to sort this out

He has played 47 in the last 3 years

Don’t they have the camp twins this draft?

Makes the comparison with Harmes more bazaar given Harmes had played a hell of a lot in the VFL in 2023.

Yet we bring in a first 22 player for a number of years from a club that has been finalists in the last 2 year, cheap and little impact on our Salary cap, yet we still have complaints as he is not the player people here want.

The trade thread that never stops delivering for the perpetually outraged I guess
It's not "bazaar" at all. They are basically the same type of mature hard bodied mids who can play elsewhere. They'll be fighting for the same spot with West, the newly signed Garcia and top ten draftee Sanders. Then you add in list cloggers Poulter, Baker and Vandermeer to that.

A "best 23" player more like it considering he was subbed halfway throughthe secondquarterof his last game. In a position that we're already flush with players at the expense of home grown club champions. That's why people are complaining.

Put it this way considering we can just keep Macrae (a far better player) I wouldn't be heading out to a market in Morocco to get Kennedy.

Kennedy is a better inside midfielder, a role he will hardly play at the dogs as Libba gets first crack and Sanders second crack.

I'm confused. Genuinely confused by this.
Maybe we see him as the fallback option to play half forward if as seems likely O'Halloran is now out of reach.

I love Jack Macrae, but if I have to see him eek out his career as a goal shy half forward/rotating mid then I'd be very unhappy.

Anyways, fwiw If it comes to pass, Im ok with Kennedy dependant on the cost. And given he was told to explore his options by Carlton, I'd be surprised if that cost was anything other than a token pick.

Regardless of the outcome. The catsrophising in here whenever we bring in a ready made role player (which we do every year) is an endless sauce of amusement.

Kennedy played in Carlton’s side most of the year. Was made sub a few times. Is better than Harmes nowadays but he wants to play in the midfield, which is not what he will get with us.

Libba is on his last legs with underlying concussion issues, trealor calf issues are not going away, we are losing Macrae & smith and obviously Dunkley trade a few yrs back

I'm not convinced Kennedy doesn't play a lot of minutes in midfield

FWIW a lot of historical concerns are with Kennedy is both fitness and the ability to run out a game.

A lot of the reason why he's been shuttled around different positions is largely because the fitness demands to play pure onballer or the hardest running outside positions aren't quite there.

He has weaknesses and if he didn't he wouldn't be available so cheaply, but it really does show how little footy of other clubs people do watch, where despite being a bloke who has played well over 100 games and more a less a full season for a big, finals competing club recently, people here are melting/not melting/not really understanding his strengths and weaknesses.

Out Baz Daniel macrae

I need a job where this is the bar for a productive years work

In a year where we bombed out in an elimination final you can’t spin to me that this isn’t a poor off season.

We’ll free up cap space but have proven we can’t attract talent anyway

As a member I want more from the club

It's funny how both Jackson Trengove and Tim O'Brien were both pretty poor recruits it seemed both at the time and in retrospect and there wasn't anywhere near the melts for when we recruited them at the time.

Why leave out the draft picks we’ll get for Daniel and Macrae.

We get you’re upset. No need to over do it.

Who would you have liked us to go out and get this off season?

We still have the draft to go as well, this melodramatic stuff is so boring
