If we trade Daniel or Macrae we're not getting much back. People suggesting picks in the 20's or even early 30's are deluded. It is primarily a salary cap dump move because we don't believe they are in our best 22.

My hope is that all of this all part of wider forward thinking strategy to lure a big fish or two with all the cap room we have created.

Both North and Saints have picks 22 and 24, and a pick in the early 40s. No ways we are getting early to mid seconds for both of them. Next best pick both teams have ahead of the trade periods, is those two. Probably the most realistic option. We can always package a couple and move up ourselves. Its not the end of the world.

Are we that desperate for players?
He played reasonable enough quality of footy when he was actually on the park this season. At least 19 touches in all but one game. Irrespective of quality of ball use, injury history, position, whatever, you can't really guarantee any bloke that you can get for a minimum contract will even get 19 touches in an average game when you stick him on the park.

Even with his injury risk, it makes sense, he's still a AFL capable player.

Callan Ward would have to be the most embarrassing one given we totally lowballed him.

Yeah, I saw him buying a red, white & blue crocheted teapot cover and one of those toilet roll frilly dolly thingys.
Oh, and a bacon and egg roll, not with that fancy cheese either.

Went to an event today with Bailey Smith as a guest speaker with Paul Connors sitting next to him. It was a bunch of mediocre speak and they both downright refused to announce a specific club that he was going to.

The only thing I took out of it was that Bailey was incredibly nervous and he certainly isn’t a natural in the spotlight. His image is completely manufactured and certainly isn’t personality based.

I’m surprised they’d commit to an event right now with everything going on..

Geelong, and it was five.

One was an outrageous snap from the boundary right in front of where I was sitting.
And that wasn’t a free to Jeff White in that final either.

Agreed. Whately asked him which new teammate he’d like to play with and he mentioned Watson, Ginnivan and followed it up with Max Holmes.

He’s a deadset attention seeker.

Geelong is committed to Smith

If the deal goes south, we risk losing a draftee that might end up as good as Smith
But Geelong risks losing Smith himself.

And in this 'nobody wins' scenario, we gain credibility in future trade negotiations, whilst geelongs reputation as a potential suitor takes a hit.

They have more at stake.
Send the flog to the garbage tip

I cringe every time he talks.

Might not be all his fault, actually.

Can't help thinking he may have been given a bit of bad advice over the journey.

He's become a marketing phenomenon. Someone's making plenty out of him, IMO.

Poor little rich kid?

Ask the guy sitting next to him, Paul Connors.

Every time he was asked a question, his puppy dog eyes would look straight over to Connors.

Because he has already been read the riot act by Connors once this week, probably didn't want to put his foot in it.

I'd imagine if he wasn't such a cash cow he would be looking for new management right about now.

wow.. seems strange to answer that question also without officially requesting a trade.
He has officially asked for a trade just not officially nominated a destination.
