Maybe Baz can hook us up with someMids, wingmen and small forwards surely.
Do you realise the value he could bring ? Sometimes you just pay the price e.g. Horne FrsncisIf u guys get Butters to agree to request a trade to the Dogs, you guys do realise how much it will cost you.
How many future firsts do u guys have?
I'm not quite there yet with Gags. Showed flashes this year and has good attributes, but needs to find a way to get more involved in the game. Good signs, but not a sure thing yet imo.We got Harvey Gallagher in the same draft with a pick in the 40s.
The draft was a dud, Gags isn't.

Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. If past performance is indeed the most effective indicator of future performance and the more recent its, the more predictive, than surely Daniel's actual 2024 season is the most relevant predictor here?
Daniel played two good games in the final two rounds of the H&A season but other than that it was a generally poor season including being ineffectual often when coming on as the sub, and he himself playing poorly which was a factor in costing us the win vs Geelong in the gather round game.
All of this without outstanding VFL forn this year when he played there - even Oskar Baker was the better VFL player in games they played together.
I agree Daniel is a champion of our club and has reinvented himself before and could do so again. It is through that possibility we got pick 25, a meaningful pick with a reasonable chance of a good player (unlike e.g. the 38 we gave up for Kennedy, which is a pick that significantly drops off). But it's strange not to treat his 2024 season for what it was - even worse than Macrae`s?
Past performance is the only indicator of future performance.Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance.

He's a turnover merchant. Until he gets more consistent with decision making and disposal he will always be a huge question mark.I'm not quite there yet with Gags. Compare the pair. We're all sounding like a super fund ad now.

I think he's just too short in modern AFL footy to play out of defenceHe wasn’t really on the draft radar until he was moved to half back for the Pioneers half way through his draft year and started racking up 30-40 disposals games. I watched him on the last Champs game that year have a great game at half back and came away hoping we’d pick him up as a defender. I think at the moment he’s a bit like Richards when we were playing him at half forward. He’s not a low volume player by nature.
Sarcasm?I think he's just too short in modern AFL footy to play out of defence

Could be proven wrong but there's nothing in his games over two years I've watched that suggest to me he has any capability above his head in terms of reading the play, using his body in contests etc. that is obviously true for natural defenders like Duryea (and an extent) Bramble. He’s a little taller than Duryea and about the same size as Bramble. Obviously Duryea is quite athletic but Gallagher tested well for running & standing verticals pre-draft.

I think we liked the move to half-back out of his draft year because it revealed that he had certain traits that could be redeployed at AFL level in different positions with the slightly different way the game is played. A bit like how Freijah was drafted off the wing at U18 level but was essentially only ever a defender for us at AFL level and whose next step may be inside midfielder instead.
Ditto - I'll be hoping Jack & Caleb go wellLooks like I'll be watching a lot more North and Saints games next year. Definitely won't be watching any Geelong games.
I don't think I'll be Robinson Crusoe in that regard.
I watch very little outside of Dogs games, but I will take special interest in Saints and North next year.Looks like I'll be watching a lot more North and Saints games next year. Definitely won't be watching any Geelong games.

That year we turned Stringer, pick 28 and a future 2nd (pick 31) into Josh Schache and Ed Richards. So, kind of?Geez we've made some big calls on AA players, goal kicking winners and bnf winners over the last few years.
Stringer - did we get Ed Richards for him? If so I'd consider that a success.
Hunter - not sure what we got for him but that seemed to be a good call.
CD - we'll see. I'd imagine North will feed him plenty of the ball and it'll be a good fit for him.
Macrae - think he's still got two year left as an inside mid and as a Brad Crouch replacement should also find plenty of the footy at Saints.
If Stringer had stayed in our 2018 team my word his value would have tanked even more. That year we turned Stringer, pick 28 and a future 2nd (pick 31) into Josh Schache and Ed Richards. So, kind of?
