Tom Emmett de-listed from Fremantle also, a strong, hard tackling pressure fwd. Does a lot of the 1%ers and a decent short burst runner. Doesn't get much of the footy nor kick too many goals which is his main issue, but more a pure pressure fwd.

Was watching him. He's another pushed out the amount of players they have in the same role. Forward/wing and was a mature pick up. He's 1 you'd have to list on to train to ascertain his abilities because Freo's gameplan is to get it from backline to forward in as few as possessions possible.

Did you just describe Emmett or Vandermeer

They do describe similarly but I feel they are pretty different. Vanders more the speedster opening up space down field and chasing runners, Emmett more the type to crunch players or lay some hard tackles and smothers helping to lock the ball in. Not sure he kicks enough goals or gets enough of the ball to use a list spot, but he's one we might look at

If we even invite him as a train-on player I will be resigning my membership.

He may be the worst player on an AFL list. Well, I guess he's not any more, but you get my drift.

Absolutely ****ing woeful.

Hahaha that might be the most outrageous threatening of a membership i've ever heard. Cancelling it, if we invite Tom Emmett to our pre-season to try out for a rookie list spot...

Terrible idea. Then we end up in the same position next year without a 1st round pick and Butters to potentially be available.
Yep, if anything, we should be doing the opposite.

Trading out our current pick 17 in the hope that some other team trades their future first because they over-value the 'available' player, gives us a chance at having a top 10 pick next year even with a successful future that means we can plan for the greater number of out-of-contract players year.

All eggs in the Butters basket with an aging midfield and not much else coming through.

What could possibly go wrong?

Has he already signed our contract offer?

I'm all for rebuilding when we actually need to rebuild and going through the draft then.

I'm of the view we should wait until our hand is forced when we have a bad season with a single-digit win tally, but until that happens, I'm all for topping up to try and put as much talent around the fact that we continue to to have Bont, Darcy and all others in our best 22 for the next few years.

If he nominates us next year Power will find a way to get the deal done. This is the year to load up and compete for the rest of the decade. Got the 3rd oldest list in the AFL now.

Who said anything about rebuilding?

We need to balance the list, our young midfield stock is almost non existent. Waiting another year or two to do anything about it is about as bad as list management can get.

A draft that is heavy for mids inside the first 30 and you want us to trade out? Yeah not sure about that.

Sanders and Garcia are as good as a midfield duo wo players that played as few games as they did at AFL level while being fit.

I don't think it's a non-existent stock.

If anything we have more riches than many other clubs by virtue of the fact that we were able to play Sanders and Garcia as much reserves footy as they did, for other teams, they'd have gotten a game every week.

And we just signed Garcia to a three-year deal, and I'd argue his future AFL output will probably be just as good as a random pick that we would otherwise take in the late 20's or 30's right now.

Look at Collingwood, Geelong, I don't think clubs give a rats toss bag about age profiles anymore.

More than ever it's all in. It's thrash that car until its tyres are bald, the engine blown and smoke filling the inside.

I don't think dogs can have the luxury of having a older list. Especially when the scope of the game is changing to more & more run. Saw it in finals what happens to a team with a old list vs a younger list like hawks.
