Juh even said he doesn't watch any footy at all, in a podcast he was on last year.
With how many they had out the door this year they rightfully bloked the couple contracted players that wanted to leave.
We had a lot going on in the final day of trade period ourselves so the stop start Stringer trade was probably something we didn't want to add to our list.
Whilst that is true clubs often look at deals 18-24 months out and while some do fall over clubs don't invest that sort of time without atleast some belief that they'll be able to get a deal done.
If the deal is right, take him off our hands ASAP and let’s get some players in who are quick and give a shit - like Ed Richards
As a young man never went to watch AFL games and didn't have a specific AFL football club to support

By season's end, I don't expect Libba to be a permanent fixture of our 23. It won't be form holding him back, but an eye on the future. We saw it last year with Macrae and Daniel and unfortunately I think Libba is going to be the next experienced / ageing star to find himself out of our senior team if we're not contending for finals.
Bevo has identified a medium term problem and is looking after our future and he started this in 2024 by excluding Macrae and Daniel from our Best 23. IMO, he still saw those two as Best 23 players and this is evidenced by the fact they both played in the Elimination Final.
Finals is the priority, but second priority is blooding youngsters to protect our medium term future. Unfortunately there are going to be victims of this and it has to start with players nearing the end.

Boyd is different/better then most, he recognised there were other things he'd rather be doing and hung up the boots leaving millions on the table. Many others would've phoned it in for the rest of that monster deal and took all they could.Tom Boyd kicks the goal and the Western suburbs erupt.

True to an extent, I think though it's not a guarantee Boyd was even up to even reaching the level of phoning it in. He was struggling mentally to deal with the rehab etc, and even things like getting a good night's sleep to be up, early and on time for training (like what you would have to do even to "phone it in") was a struggle for him.
I'm surprised more hasn't been discussed about Boyd's final couple of years at the club where found it challenging (his book, his podcasts, media appearances). It's a very harrowing story.

It’s a very realistic possibility that in 2026, it will just be Bont & Bevo remaining from the 2016 flag.
Those two will forever be spoken about together in the future.
I think we will continue interest in OHalloran however when we missed out on him we went right on the recruit Hynes who plays as,e position.
If we were to snag a returning GWS player I would prefer Callaghan.
I think the switch was from O'halloran to Mennedy more so then Hynes.

Just how good has Rowell been after his shoulder ACL? I feel like I stopped hearing about him thereafter.
He came 3rd in their B&F, but also Bodhi Uwland who I had never heard of before (admittedly I didn’t watch a lot of non Dogs games last year) and averaged 15 disposals as a medium defender came 2nd … so who knows.
It took him a while to get over it, but he was very good this season and will only get better.

Rowell is as good as Libba (if not better) in the trenches. His big improvement will come from finding more outside easy ball and becoming more damaging in the forward half.
