This is prob very obvious.. but gotta ask sorry, say we threw Steele alot of $$ to get him over here and he likes the offer, does the Pies still have the final say?
so both the clubs have to agree with a trade deal then we get him and if Pies dont agree with our double gun power fwds offer (Neagle + Quinn) we cant get Steele? no matter how much dough we offered him??

Yes too early for trade talk but saves me having to ask this later!

Players out of contract who want to leave either get traded or left to go into the draft... which would mean they are off to the GC.

I don't think any of those are realistic trade targets, with the exception of Boak who is doubtful at best. I think those who are listing Adelaide players are right on the money. The Crows may be down the wrong end of the ladder in the next couple of years and now could be the time to land a big fish. Players like Knights, Thompson and Vince should have the Bomber book thrown at them.

Hope we don't chase Steele, IMO he is overrated, doesn't like body contact too much. Shirked a few contests over the last few weeks. Think he'll end up being a great outside player/finisher but doubt he will end up well rounded.

Poor thread neagle still has a year on his contract and laycock was showing good form in the 2.

I still believe inhaving 2 back up ruckmen and no bock can't be included as a man and there is still questions if he is going to make it at all but we should atleast draft another ruckman this year

Yeah. Getting on a bit. We should chase Vince heavily. Even though he's currently serving a club suspension he is a special talent and is still relatively young. Thompson would be a good get if we could somehow get him cheaply.

Example of a 3 way trade:
Stanton to GC
Pick 7 to appropriate club
Player to Essendon

I think the only way we can make a trade happen is if we get GC involved and make them use one of their many first round picks. If they keep failing to get marquee signings for nothing then we might be able to squeeze a good pick out of them.

Steele Sidebottom was an Essendon supporter before being drafted if I recall correctly.

Yeah I don't think GC would burn pick 7 on Stanton. You'd have to offer Jobe I reckon! I'm not sure about the other two but I'm pretty confident that Boak is staying. His best mate at the club is Robbie Gray and he has already extended his contract for another 2 seasons so I reckon Boaky will do the same.

He originally comes from the Geelong area though (and supported the Cats as a kid) so if he did go back to Victoria you guys would have no chance anyway. I'm expecting Geelong to go hard at Boak if Gazza walks.

IMO these guys will cost more than we would be willing to part with.

One I think we should have a crack at is Patrick Vezpremi, abundance of class when played, injury forced him out and hasn't been able to get back into the side, hopefully a fresh start would revitalize him.

Always thought he had the brain to play midfield if he ever built the tank though. Reminds me a bit of Sidebottom with a bit more upside (Admittedly based on late 08).
