I can only guess that their must have been a spat within , Nathan Burke on a recent poddy I listened spoke of the clique’s unique to W program that was a driver in player movement, WB have turned over entire list in short term , blues same . In terms of value she is clearly our sec best player and I’d argue was a rightful bf winner , mon was lucky . If it were top 5 pic then sure what a decent deal ,,,18 in W is absolutely crap , equiv say to 50-60 in men’s for a 2 x AA player In peak of form , flipping wild about this

i'm only guessing here, but if she wanted out, pick 18 is about fair as you're going to get for her age
also there is no GCS, WCE or North AFL men's type mentality, where they're throwing away picks, left, right and centre

i got a funny feeling she'll go too......clearing the decks for draft picks in a strong draft (probably the strongest so far)
crazy stuff really

but I'm sure someone has decided we aren't the side we should be by now
only got till 4pm tomorrow to find out
I read that 18 could be used for Scott , wow we must rate her . Tbh I would have preferred to swap milzy , sheerin is like avg near 20p a game , who does that , most contested

Yea I don’t imagine swans or gws would have handed over r1 inside top 5 ,,,disappointing, listening to her speech I would have guessed she was totally invested in tigers program ,,,totally

pick 18 for Scott.........please God no

Bummers can keep her.......wouldn't even give a 2nd rounder, 3rd maybe

My guess she wanted to explore options , loyalty is a whole new level in W

the way i look at it and i'm not happy, but she's only got 3 good years and if we were happy for her to chase a Flag, let her go, she's given us great service
we get a decent pick (pick 18 is fair) and we let her go with all the good luck for her future
we just have to move on now

Would wanna be deep , Ellie Mc is only genuine qty we’ve drafted , rest u can have . Bacon at 10 doesn’t exactly have me doing cartwheels
Bacon wasn't top 10 in a strong draft, we took her with 13, which may have been a slight reach, and there are better players who went after her but they nominated for states not national.

It's good that we got games into her this year and as a 1st year player we need to give her time, ironically the best development for someone with her skill sets would have been playing alongside Sheerin had she of played back this year to learn, which would have accelerated her development.

Cant believe Sheerin has gone & to Nth Melbourne of all the teams. Makes a mockery of the AFLW, when a premiership team can continue to add to the team with players like Sheerin. Well done the Roo's recruiting team for the steal of the season. I cant see us being close to competitive with our midfield now, we needed to add too it, not diminish it.

yes agree toenail63, Bacon and Ford went okay, not nom for rising star okay, but looking okay

i'm just repeating okay because it's the only word that describes their 1st year

I have no faith in our drafting as has been mentioned, our players have been very ordinary for the most part, they seem to try & base athletes over actual skilled players. We are truly lacking in skilled players & then trade our 2nd best player for an end of 1st round pick. I loved watching Sheerin play, as she showed the guts & determination to make us better as a team.

Not short term anyway, back to the drawing board we go.

yes i think that's the glaring problem, only Ellie McK.........the rest bar Yassir have been busts, Molan and Reid being the highest picks.
Molan was a bust and kept on the list too long. In 2021 draft there were a few that were a reach as it turns out, Stella Reid, Ella Friend and Annie Lee. Does Tara Slender count?

I've been around footy most of my life. Was in the Jets program as a 15yo, played 2 years for them as a decent ish player, but nowhere good enough for AFL. Pretty good suburban player on decent coin. I was coach of my Daughters U12 team and pretty much the U15's too as their coach was clueless, lied about her background and had NFI. After 2 years my head was absolutely done in from the politics, backstabbing, bitchiness, incompetence. In year 1 it was the whole clubs inaugural season I had an ex VFA gun (father of a player who used to be my coach) and an ex VFL ruckman (grandfather of a player) helping me out and even though most girls went from 0 skills never even Auskick to pretty good fundamentals by EOY although rarely close to a win.

Year 2 all quality help was gone as they were over all the drama and toxicity. We made finals, but I hated it by mid season and was rapt when it was over. Most of my best mates I grew up playing footy with, footy trips to Bali, Gold Coast, Thailand are still highlights and best memories of my life. From every team be it U9's, Vickick, Jets, local club..... it was always filled with humour, banter, U16 Pie nights with Jazzy O (our Mums probably would've castrated our Dads if they knew we weren't just drinking coke and eating 4 n 20's). So many dudes I grew up with/ played with have similar lousy experiences as me from their involvements with their daughters teams........ no prizes for guessing the common denominator but what boys team ever had bitchiness, backstabbing, cliques, bullying?

The unspoken thing in AFLW is so many are dating each other, cheat with a teammate, or break up and justifiably so nobody wants to have to work with their ex, much less see them hooking up with your teammate. Can you imagine the hours wasted sorting through those sh1t storms instead of say... learning to kick reasonably accurately over 20m.

"Sheerin's future had been up in the air throughout the Trade Period, with the Kangaroos parting with their first selection in next week's draft – pick No.18 – to secure the talented Tigers midfielder."

"North Melbourne registered its interest in Sheerin after its Grand Final victory a fortnight ago and talks with Richmond progressed across Tuesday, with the two clubs finally agreeing to a deal ahead of deadline day."

reading that, it seems to be a 2-way trade, an agreement between Tigers and Norf

Yeah, that 2021 draft was empty.

I'm probably wrong, but the only thing that would make that make sense to me is if we needed Pick 18 to go with our other 1st rounder to pull someone exceptional in.

If we use it on Scott from Essendon, that would be about the dumbest move yet.

yep plenty of busts

your thoughts Phar Ace on the state of play?........Sheerin gone, maybe Yassir as well
With Emma Kearney possibly retiring, or accepting a downgraded contract, I'll bet this opened up opportunity for Sheerin. As I said before, if this is part of a bigger play, then maybe it's good trading.

Next watch will be on whether Ferg keeps his role I reckon! He seems safe, but we all thought Sheerin was all in too. There can be hard conversations, not all of them about football in AFLW.

yeah your post is what I've been thinking about too Phar Ace

both the Emma Kearney and Ferguson part....interesting times, seems like a bit of a shake up
will Sheehan keep her job, some of the assistants as well?

the powers that be seem to be on the war path
do they finally see where the club is really at, like most of us do on BF

could be nothing, could be something........i'm not sure ATM

"Sydney and Greater Western Sydney both explored a potential trade for Sheerin earlier in the period, given the 32-year-old is from New South Wales, though ultimately she elected for a move to the reigning premier."

forgot to add this part, so what i thought was sort of right that she'd be on the move back to N.S.W

One thing I remember Sheerin saying in an interview this year was “Don’t make decisions to please other people”.

Not a chance she is in our top 8.

Ellie, Mon, KB, Miller, Gabby, Poppy.
Two of
Egan, Dempsey, Yassir, Grieser.

Last two seasons
Grieser 22.16 goals, 39tackles
Yassir. 21.7 65 tackles

If not in ours definitely in Essendons
