honestly, with the limited stuff I saw beforehand I'm very happy with the draft

rookieme phantom had ridewood at our pick and she looked really good, which doesn't surprise me that she went right after our first pick, and I also liked the look of hargreaves, but obviously behind ridewood.

overall good haul

just gotta hope howley gets home sick up in nsw

She's all class, reads the play like Conti, we have a bonafide star.

yes 100% Phar Ace, Sierra Grieves and Zoe Hargreaves will give us a nice 1-2 punch in the middle
both have power, speed and contested work...........nice
and Hargreaves bares similar traits to that of Ellie McKenzie

i think Grace, Mon and Ellie are very happy ATM:D

that pick slide up from 12-10 worked out nicely
Sheerin who?????

I’ll sleep a little easier reckon we’ve done well , two talented mids that really should come on and help what we already got , I like Scotty , we haven’t got that bullocking type med forward and I think that we will trial an spp or is it ssp anyways a try out player for remaining spot

Baffles me why we would not have kept picks 34 and 38 and used pick 34 to draft Paige Scott and pick 38 for the next best.

The second trade is even more idiotic considering we only had one list spot left at the point in the draft.

Only thing I can think of is that they needed the picks for the trade with Essendon but then the trade fell over and we were stuck with the picks

Exactly right. Might not have even been the trade with Essendon. Plenty of stuff in the background that doesn't eventuate that we never hear about.

WHO WERE SOME OF THE UNLUCKY OMISSIONS?

Perhaps the Sydney and GWS Giants Northern Academy members with Emma Juneja and Ash Patton – both National Academy members – among five players who were among the chances. Amelie Prosser-Shaw, Ellie Hall and Ellie Veerhuis were all good enough to get on a list, and it showed the strength of the draft.

Tasmanian National Academy member Mackenzie Williams was our highest ranked player to miss out, while Northern Territory talent Tatyana Perry also went undrafted. Rookie Me Central Medallist Jemma Reynolds, GWV Rebels back Millie Lang and South Australian MVP Esther Schirmer were the other Top 50 players from our Power Rankings who remain the best chances for the Supplemental Selection Period (SSP) list period.

WHERE TO FROM HERE?

Three AFL Women’s clubs have open list spots in Essendon, Geelong and Richmond, with the clubs having an opportunity in February to sign players during the SSP. Between then and now further list spots for clubs can open to allow more opportunities – be it through injury or other unavailabilities – but the door is not closed for those unlucky players.
