What’s your point BJ? Save your lectures for campaigners that actually read your posts
You’re a keyboard warrior SJ. When you actually post something that’s not pathetic wake me up
She has played 61 games in one more season at Richmond than McKenzie so maybe do your research

do you not like your life?
or your job, that when you get home, you take angry pills and post on Bigfooty???

you come on here picking fights, continually.
nobody cares about your opinions, which should be obvious by now.

like everyone has told you, go away, you're not wanted here.

are you forgetting the 2 seasons and 15 games she had at the Western Bulldogs?

i'll do the math for you 61 - 15 = 46 games, 5 seasons at Richmond (which is by far better than anyone on our list)
she has only missed 2 games, which was in 2021, her 2nd year with us, had a hamstring injury.

bit unfair to compare Ellie Mck games ave with the best games ave on our list
hope that helps.

Parker re-signed with GWS.

i think we'll head to draft with our 1st rounder, pick No 9
pretty much all the best girls have nominated nationally or are in the Victorian pool.

Best available at #9 you'd say?

Best available at #9 you'd say?

we have depth with KPF & KPD
so, I'm assuming we look at midfielders, ones that are quick and agile.

ones that would be in our range, probably best in this order are:

Mikayla Williamson DANDENONG STINGRAYS
MIDFIELDER, MEDIUM DEFENDER
Height: 173cm
D.O.B: 08-05-2005

Kaitlyn Srhoj PEEL THUNDER
MIDFIELDER
Height: 175cm
D.O.B: 10-07-2005

Jessica Rentsch GWV REBELS
MIDFIELDER/MEDIUM DEFENDER
Height: 172cm
D.O.B: 11-10-2005

Lila Keck BENDIGO PIONEERS
MIDFIELDER/SMALL FORWARD
Height: 162cm
D.O.B: 20-10-2005

Kayley Kavanagh CALDER CANNONS
MIDFIELDER
Height: 169cm
D.O.B: 06-07-2005

well maybe we wont be keeping our 1st rounder.

Richmond has won commitments from Giants pair Jodie Hicks and Ally Dallaway, while the Tigers will also snare strong-marking Adelaide ruck Montana McKinnon in one of the Trade Period's most high-profile moves.

McKinnon, who has played 31 games for the Crows, has been searching for opportunities as a No.1 ruck option having missed out on the club's premiership win in 2022 (season six) through suspension.

North Melbourne is hopeful of retaining the majority of a squad that played in last weekend's Grand Final, but could lose midfielder Ellie Gavalas as she weighs up interest from a handful of Victorian rivals.

Gavalas, who played eight games this season but was dropped from the Kangaroos team that featured throughout the finals, has so far attracted the attentions of Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood, Richmond and the Western Bulldogs.

Ally Dallaway MIDFIELDER
Height: 164cm
D.O.B: 22-01-1999 25yo
After initially missing out in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft, an injury to Isadora McLeay early in the pre-season opened the door for Dallaway to become a GIANT. The 24-year-old was the GIANTS’ breakout player in season six, slotting in seamlessly to become one of the best young talents in competition. Dallaway continued her promising career by playing all 10 games last year.
2021 injury replacement

Jodie Hicks
OUTSIDE MIDFIELDER
Height: 160cm
D.O.B: 19-01-1997 27yo
The talented dual athlete, having previously played cricket for the Sydney Sixers, returned to the AFLW last season following a year away from the game. Hicks played all 10 games in her return season following her time away playing and coaching with Macquarie University. Previously a forward, Hicks will continue her time as a defender in season eight following a successful move down back last year.
GWS Pick No. 82, 2022 national draft

Montana McKinnon
RUCK
Height: 183cm
D.O.B: 14-07-2001 23yo
A standout junior ruck prospect and Adelaide’s first pick at the 2019 AFLW draft, McKinnon was a two-time All-Australian at under-18 level, captained the Central Allies at the 2019 AFLW Under 18 Championships and was named MVP. McKinnon is also a dual-Premiership player with South Adelaide.
Adelaide Pick No. 14, 2019 national draft

Hicks and Dallaway would be cheap (3rd - 4th rounders?)
we got Libby Graham from GWS last year for Pick No. 68

McKinnon will cost us (McKinnon and Crows 1st Rd No18 for our 1st Rd No9?)
she's hasn't been best 21, but has upside, so sounds about right, but it'd try to do our 2nd Rd Pick No 30 as an entree offer first.

EDIT:
after looking at McKinnon's stats, she's no better than Poppy Kelly
Pick No 30 is about her worth to us, we've already got 3 rucks on our list.

Pretty impressive gets if we can get all 3 done. McKinnon would be a huge improvement for our team.

Very interesting that our women’s program has quite a considerate pull for players around the comp wanting to join despite the lack of success we’ve had.

The gws players both have handy numbers , particularly the midfielder has had some good games with high teen disposal and respectable eff%
Look like good gets , a bit surprised at getting a ruck with kelly there tho maybe plans to use Seymour as key defender, we were more solid with her there . Libby Graham is so so

We have picks 9, 30, 49, 69 heading into the trade period.

Unlikely to hold onto #9 if we are trading 3 players in.

the GWS girls won't be near our 1st in value.
late 2nd, early 3rd picks.

McKinnon, the Adelaide ruck, would be the only one that could warrant a decent pick (late 1st rounder, early 2nd)
she was taken at No14, 2019 and hasn't really made the ruck role hers at the crows.

I'm sure crows would want to keep her, but she isn't worth No9 in this draft.
she hasn't cemented a best 21 and has no accolades, so would be a No25 at best I'd say.

i would be very, very disappointed in we traded our 1st for just her.
personally, I'd give only our 2nd No30.

but we could end up with crow's 1st No18 and McKinnon for our No9.

yeah i like Ally Dallaway's numbers, an upgrade on Kiely, JHosking, Meg Mac and even SHosking.
can't say i've seen or noticed her though when we've played GWS.
but according to their (GWS) write up "she's the most improved and has become one of the best young talents in competition."

but we could say that about Wicksteed.

If we can upgrade on Poppy Kelly and free up Seymour then we’d be mad not too

Kelly really doesn’t do much around the ground

yeah, Kelly played THE BEST game i've seen against Pies in the last Game, verses a non-jumping Sab Fredericks
but Kelly struggles against leaping rucks.
all her other games have been average/poor.

Seymour is by far our best leaping ruck.
Lily Pierce has a good leap on her, very athletic, but hasn't played a game.

if it was my call, I'd keep Pierce and de-list/trade Kelly.
bring in McKinnon at a fair price and that would be our 3 rucks.
only need 3, don't need anymore.

No news that any of our own are up for grabs ,,, yet

by my count we have 29 ATM on our list.
3 incoming makes it 32, we have to get it down to 28 before the draft.

D'Arcy, Knoll (ACL), Meg Mac would be in trouble.
then we have to chop one more

Lily Pierce?
Poppy Kelly?
Stella Reid?
Amelia Peck?
Charley Ryan?
Jemima Woods?

i doubt Tessa Lavey would be cut, but who knows.

Stan, I watched a bit of local W footy this year up in Qld and saw GWS v SUNS live and to get it done for the 2 GWS players I believe our pick 49 (will give GWS consecutive 3rd round picks before Swans) and pick 69 is about right, Hicks is the more cleaner player, but not a prolific accumulator, and Dallaway, from seeing her play, more of a stopper inside type who was only 3rd string to Goldsworthy & Zareeka because Parker was injured. She was brought in as an injury replacement player, and is depth there, and likely be the same with us. With Ellie back, and more ball fed to the outside she may end up behind Charli Wicksteed. To put it in context Brancatisano a better player, also 3rd string behind Rowbottom and Whitford.

In the Crows Semi and Prelim finals, Jess Allen was the dominant ruck including time on ground on ball. So what do we trade for McKinnon? McKinnon has lost the ruck battle to Allen, she wants to be a #1 ruck and we obviously have offered this over Poppy, which is OK, McKinnon is the better player around the ground, her low stats will improve with more time on ground if #1 ruck. Poppy going to #2 will keep her hungry to get it back, and we can send Seymour into defence/swing woman permanently.

An upgrade from 18 to pick 9 does not help Adelaide if going local talent, and 9 alone is overs, they have first few picks 18,37,40, and Port have 4,25,44,64

Our pick 30 should get it done it gives them 18, 30, 37 and 40 so if picking SA talent will then be 2nd, 4th, 5th & 6th in SA which gets them ahead of Port after their first 2 picks with 3 consecutive picks.

thanks for this info toenail63, you're a legend.😍
i agree whole heartedly with all you've written.😍

Stan,

I know you follow the pathways and trust your knowledge of players locally but nationally there is so much talent yet to hit a list, one in particular could be our next Sheeran. Have a look at Steph O'Brien. She is a cross code athlete. If we're not looking at Irish ready made athletes then at least homegrown athletes like Steph we should be. Steph came through Western Districts Netball Assoc. I'm a former President of Wests, and no matter what level, playing club or as a training partner to the Firebird she's super committed. She's a state league player and state rep, has been in elite netball environment, is one of the best athletes I've seen going around, plays with passion and controlled aggression, amazing work ethic and super diligent in her prep. Basically already living a professional athlete life.

I Would love to see her get on a list, any club list to see her get that chance. Just needs opportunity to be in an elite AFLW environment to take it to the next level. Rookie me draft guide has her in there so her rating is going up, but at 30 might detract from being drafted but I feel she could definitely play into late 30's

What Steph also adds to is the group of players is a mature player who sets high standards and aren't satisfied unless they have constant improvement even if just another 1/2 percent improvement, and this then raises others up. You can never have enough of these players and we are fortunate to have Brennan, Conti, Sheeran, Seymour, Lavey to name a few. You won't get a Bulldogs situation if you have this group to lead the club. Take a look at the Lions Ellenger and Boltz didn't meet the standards and the group wouldn't stand for it and they go away and reflect and only come back when ready to commit, and the result is a a premiership medal.

again, i can't praise you enough toenail63, you've gone to 2 X Legend in my books.😍
we couldn't go wrong with such a player with our last pick.😍

fantastic write up much appreciated.😍
