Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

With all the compo picks etc, our Pick 23 is still listed on the AFL website as the first pick of Round 2.

I guess that means it is the first pick of night 2? Correct me if I am wrong.

This is a post I prepared earlier

I don’t think we have the first pick on night 2

Night 1 will end when whoever has Collingwood’s R1 pick makes their selection

Since the draft was first split over 2 nights in 2018 there’s only been one instance of an end of 1st round priority or FA compensation pick being given out.

That was in 2018 when we received band 2 (end of R1) FA compensation for Lycett which was the first pick of night 2 despite being a R1 pick

It’s a small sample size but it’s the only precedent we have

FB: Cole, Barass, Hough
HB: Hunt, McGovern, Yeo
C: Sheed, Kelly, Duggan
HF: Reid, Darling, Cripps
FF: Ryan, Allen, Long
R: Flynn, Ginbey, Hewett
I/C: B.Williams, J.Jones, Brockman, Gaff

I know no one wants Gaff in 22 but being realistic. Yeo can still have bursts in the midfield but primarily HB. Duggan/Hunt to play wing depending on who and what

Would like to see Burgiel push into that 22 sooner rather then later from the younger players and whoever our 23 is to be ready to go or thereabouts also
Dev would’ve been nice.

Hope we make a play for Will Brodie

Yeah but pick 44(who knows what it'll end up as, probably late 30s) probably won't have much of a career anyway, especially that late in this draft, where clubs are scrambling to get into the top 10.
I honestly believe (well fingers crossed there better be, because that’s where my team will be picking) there’s some value in the 30’s.

This is a pretty deep draft for small forwards, back flankers, and project KPP’s. You take what the draft gives you, especially at the back end.

Brockman certainly doesn't get a game in front of cripps and Ryan if fit.

Is he ahead of long ?
Cripps, Ryan, Brockman & Long would all play in the same team.

Ryan played some solid High-HF/Wing over the years.

Longy to get some mid-splits with Boots out. I wouldn't mind seeing him pick up some Sheez/Naicos HBF distributor role in 2024.

Between bench and other roles, those four could comfortably fit on the team sheet.

There'll be some good players to come out of it, just like there's be some duds inside 20.

Freo won't trade Brodie to us unless we pay significant overs. If they have to trade him they would rather it be to an eastern states club. They would take a lesser offer to trade him east rather than to us. The reason being it is too embarassing for the club if you trade a player and he starts playing better than the trade price you got for him (i.e. you lost the trade in the view of supporters) they would rather that that happens in the eastern states and is not so visible to their supporters, as opposed to if he was playing for us and it was hapenning right under the noses of the Freo supporters.

Its not worth it for zerk-thatcher or Ratugolea . Both are average footballers .

I have a feeling hawks will PSD de Ambrossio
Henry maybe?
Rat I don't mind but a tad meh.
Maybe Sharp , Ralphsmith or Coffield otherwise?

I'm hoping for Henry myself. That's really piss the purple Muppets off. Deserved after the Kelly and now Brockman bullshit.

They will finish last next year again. Just watch, its what they have infused in their DNA now.

Cole Barrass Yeo
Duggan McGovern Reid
Hunt Kelly Hough
Brockman Allen Ryan
B Williams Darling Long

Flynn Ginbey Hewett

INT: Maric, Sheed, Bazzo, Petrucelle

Sub: Youngster in form

If we can keep most of that side on the park and win some early games I can see us finishing ahead of North in 2024. Their line to line KP depth is still horrendous.
Culley when he is fit who is also a mid fwd.
Reid will start fwd not back. He is a mid fwd.

We only got 3 picks left now 1, 23 & 37.
Highly unlikely to get Collard & Curtin with those.
ZZ yes.

100% Future First is being traded as Gossage said. With who to sweeten it? I'm for moving some players Gaff & Sheed? Last Day of Draft Shenanigans, Strap yourselves in. Eagles will wait to other clubs have all picks sorted.

Eagles have named 3 players Yeo, Duggan & Darling who are not going. There are others who have been rumoured.

Definitely 1st pick Day 2 WCE.
Freo had the first pick day 2 and pick Johnson. That was GC end of first round priority pick .
We had and end of first round compo for lycett that was first pick day 2 also .

At my count we have 1 x priority pick and 2 x FA compo picks .

We will have pick 4 on day 2

Let's do an honest assesment of the rising WA players.

Thoslup triggers me. He has a 60 % of being a bust. He can't accumulate possesion in wafl league if his life depended on it.

At best he is a failed mid that will need to play HBF or Hff.

Collard/zz will not be playing at all next year. They shone in wafl Colts which is is toddler league... But Collard could play since small forwards can easily slot in. But really we are chasing capitol for a small ******* forward? Jesus Christ how many of those do we ******* need. Zz is a project player nothing wrong with that.

One of zz/Collard should side to 23 which is all we need. If we are sooo desperate for dub a

Tdlr: no moving capitol to secure extra WA players
Ryan and his injury is a big question. Huge. Don't expect the old Ryan. He will have to play within himself and resist the temptation to do some of the things he does until he gets half a season of match fitness into him. Quite possible he plays WAFL for a while once he is ready to play.

Cripps has 2 yrs max left in him.

Petricelli isn't a small forward.

In 2 yrs long and brochman will the main smalls with Ryan aging.

Everyone has gone mad the last week! Yes they have.

Darling not going anywhere! I hope not and club appear to have quashed rumours.

Ried will be an eagle Hope so.

But F1 will be traded for Curtin. This would be one of the stupidest moves in our club history. Curtin is ranked 6-8 in a weak draft and next year has at least 4 mids rated as highly (or even more so) than Reid and McKercher. No way should this happen.

Edit: I have no source or connections but looking at this logically 😅 Logical you say. Mr Spock would be spinning in his grave. We are looking at 2024 pick 1 or 2 (with the possibility of a compo pick straight after) and we'd give all that up for Curtin?
My comments in red.

Collard isnt a small forward. He's a medium forward.

He's a 185 cm half forward with wing potential. Le cras type.

I noted that too.

Small framed though! 70kg. Needs to pull out the Q Lynch diet.

I think we have the forward line in good order , plenty of options with Maric , Waterman and Jack Williams if you want very good depth or possible best 22 forwards . Now also Brockman , Long , Ryan and maybe Dewar as smaller options ....not to mention Cripps , he is a hybrid forward is hard to match up on .
Plus BB Williams playing forward maybe ....

Looking good in the forward half .
