Doesn't matter is what I am saying, if there is a stand out player I'm betting a scout has more skills in determining a players ability and they would go before pick 23 I'm sure. Yes we could jag a sleeper but its unlikely any flog in here would be able to identify them.
Lots of people didn't like Duggan last year.

Just a thought on Jacob Hopper and Liam Duggan.

Duggan is only 2 months older than Hopper and was the preferred choice of Captain of their School Team St Pats College in Ballarat.
Duggan born in December and Hopper in February, so only just qualified for last years draft..

Duggan was always considered the better footballer and leader.

This draft Hopper has been touted as a pick from number 3 to 6.

Puts the quality of this years draft into prospective.

Half them don't get a game and the another 1/4 play under 10 games. We have a half decent list and some top notch recruits from last year who will struggle to get regular game time, unless the draftee is Judd/Cousinesque ( which lets face it this crop is crap ) we are picking from a high base and hence my previous statement. I know a fair few on here just disagree with anything anyone says because they are that type but I stick by my call that this year is meh ! for us. I would be more excited if we had a top 12 pick but we haven't so meh!.
You draft future and its not a short term fix. we have a habit of taking some good players late in the draft or in the rookie draft. Lecca, schofield, Mackenzie, priddis, nelson and Hutchings are all players currently in our list that fits that criteria. Some of these players listed are guns and some are more than serviceable.

Apparently its outside the top 30 that talent drops away.

Look, what ever weird sexual thing you'd do with O'Kearney is your own business but I'd say our later picks are where you take the risks not the vanilla options.

:drunk: - Bought to you by Captain Morgan

Yeah, I'd rookie him right in the ass. Haha but nah I get your point though. I should have said Kearney is rookie quality IMO.

Vozzo had no idea that freo was into Mcgovern offering very big bucks ( 1.2 Million ) to stay uncontracted after the 2016 season .
Maybe he wasn't aware of it because it was complete bullshit

I take complete offence at that. I reckon I am better. :D
However, being a little serious, I completely understand and agree with what you are saying Jack_the_Ninja but 1 question for you and others here. Could it be a false dawn, or are we convinced the list is in very good shape?

Well, 2012 was the false dawn, and that was due to a lot of our success being due to the veteran hands of Kerr, Cox, Glass, Waters, Embley and even Lynch to an extent. All those are gone, and the only player who could be considered in the same category last season are Priddis, Butler and Ellis, and as the first final win over the Hawks showed, we're capable of covering for Priddis, and I'm keen for Nelson to move full time into the best 22 over both of the latter. Obviously, we are relying on several younger players to continue to step up in Yeo, Sheed, Lycett and Duggan, but even if they stay the same, if we get the likes of EMac, Darling and Brown back to their best we'll likely be improved. Face it, guys like McIness, Barrass, Giles, McGinnity, Hutchings, Lamb, will all struggle to even get an emergency gig if we stay relatively healthy.

Shuey, Gaff, Kennedy, EMac and NicNat need to show they've go the big shoulders to be the rocks of this team , and they're all AA talents at very key positions. Simmo needs to make the most of this and find a way to get some "punch them in the face" into the squad-if he can, we should be up for it.

Oh, and I completely agree with you on scouts! Simon Black 1997. Mitch Duncan 2009. Jack Darling 2010. Scott Lycett 2010. Scouts are all very prone to group think and focussing too much on weaknesses.

As notified before, The eagles are interested in form a port player mason shaw and darcy Cameron. I know Mason Shaw has potential and my port mates used rave about him for the last two seasons. Like them i was super surprised they delisted him and kept John "can't kick a set shot" Butcher. Wouldn't mind him on the rookie and develop him into forward/ruckmen in the mould of kurt tippet/josh jenkins. Can a claremont fan or someone who watches WAFL regularly fill me in on Darcy Cameron. All i know is that his 204cm ruckmen and is a north Albany product and is considered a late bloomer. He could turn out to be Sinclair 2.0 and he is a few years younger than when sincs was drafted.

Its not like his dad played for Freo or anything and there weren't any ties or inside knowledge there initially before he was even rookie'd by West Coast

Possibly but if you look at the last 5 years the list has lost some stalwarts like Glass, Waters, Embley, Kerr and Cox which would gut most teams but they quietly went away with players coming in replacing them. 2013 and 2014 were our rebuilding years and we missed finals last year ( 2014 ) but made the GF this year, I think we went backwards until Simmo took over and yes our list is now as impressive as our 2006 list based purely on evenness as we simply don't have anyone in the Judd/Cousins category atm but back then we didn't have a Kennedy type either.

Edit: I did post this before I read paran's post sorry.

I think a lot of this (offers) goes on anyway with managers receiving requests or options from other clubs but usually (guessing) doesn`t get blabbed around town.

Before McLovin would move to Freo from us there would have to be the official cancellation of Freo policy to not deal/trade ( be ripped off ) with WCE, this little embargo has been in place for decade or so now. Imagine that ? the free flow of players between us and them again, would be worth it for the laughs.

So they would officially cancel a policy that doesn't exist

Mclovin isnt no Brendan Fewster or Daniel Metropolis or Somebody Goddard

I must admit, I'm not overly in love with him.
Where would you rate him?

22-25ish. The ankle injury hurt his form line and he simply didn't get enough of the ball in the U18 championships to elevate him into the top 10 IMO. In Ah Chee's defense playing in a weak WA side didn't help him. In fact any forward playing in a weak U18 side will have difficulty shining.

The query for me is he lacks endurance and size so he's a small forward / HFFer and unless you are ripping team apart small forwards don't go top ten or even top 20. I feel he will take 2 years in the AFL system to get bigger and build his endurance. I can see bigger defenders rough him up a bit and he will lack consistency in the first couple of seasons.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if he went in the 30's.

I'd rather pick Ryan Clarke with our first if both were still available. The Eagles would see him as a very good replacement for Hill and Le cras in two years time though. We don't desperately need any particular type right now.

Sounds like Shaw has never had a clear run injury free. The summary below doesn't paint a great picture injury or form wise. Our last pick in the draft and then Darcy Cameron with a rookie spot maybe? You'd think Freo would be interested in taking a bigger risk with an earlier pick.
