To be fair to Richmond they had basically won more games than anyone leading up to the 18 months before delisting Dea, and just couldn't crack a game in a side that kept churning out wins with a good healthy list. Was the correct decision for Richmond at the time.

But then they were wasting Vlaustin at half back which he doesn't do any better or differently to Dea despite needing inside mid support.

Hi all, I'm new here (but have been perusing the forums for about a year), I was just wondering what everyone thinks of Willem Drew? Would we be a chance to get him at pick 20 or 29? And if so, would he be a good fit? Could he be a Clayton Oliver bull at the gate type mid to replace some of our aging mids in the next few years or do we have more immediate needs to address in this draft?

I think he'd be considered at 29 along with guys like Clarke and Scharenberg.

Yeah, consider him among others at 20 and take him without much hesitation if he gets to our 3rd. I think he'd be a great complement to Heppell, Parish and ZMerrett going into the future. 13.4 contested possessions per game and loves to tackle.

Ask anyone if it affected boomer harvey regarding height.....mcgluggage is very good...but mcgrath is exceptional......and will land at essendon at number 1.....take it to the bank..:)

Who would you say is the better kick?

I have it the other way. McGrath is good, but McCluggage is exceptional. I feel like McCluggage will be much harder to match up on and plan for for the opposition in 4-5 years than McGrath. McGrath will be better in the first 3 or so years, but I feel like McCluggage will have the better career.

Would be happy with either. Goal kicking mid is exactly what we need and McCluggage is all class. 25 goals from 12 games!

Trade in: Stewart
Trade out: Hibberd
Delist: Kommer, Gwilt, Edwards, Dempsey, Eades, Hams and Nyuan

PSD: Green

Sign as DFA: Kelly and Dea

Retire: Pears and Cooney
Elevate: Tippa and McKenna
Re-rookie: Eades and Long

1: Hugh McLuggage (outside classy mid who kicks goals)
20: Alex Witherdon (Great ball user off the backline. Hopefully recovered from injury. Think he will be a steal for whoever grabs him.)
29: Dylan Clarke (ball magnet in close who will learn from Watson/Hocking before taking over)
41: Patrick Kerr (Big strong KPF who will battle with Stewart to determine who will be Derpy Joe’s partner for the coming years)
68: TIPPA!!!!!!
95: IRISH!!!!!!!!!

"Take it to the bank"...words doomed to make the person who says them look a bit silly if it doesn't come true.

Don't you think we've already got enough smaller mids?

McGrath might seem like the better option initially due to being more physically ready to go, but for mine McCluggage's ceiling is much higher than McGrath's and is therefore the better option long term.

How does Long get re-rookied if he's currently on the rookie list?

Fair enough, that could just be who he would want to take though. Assistant coaches generally aren't a part of the list management team.

my mate who goes for norf has connections and reckons atley will go within 25 and clarke will slide like his brother. venables is very highly rated but wong go top 15 due to injury concerns

My cousin who's married to my sister's daughter was chatting with an Essendon coach's aunty's brother and he said Long will go at pick 53.
Don't know if that was really needed.
