Our memories of that game must be different. Hawkins kicked two goals for memory; one from a free kick that was NOT given away by Garth. The other was at the end of the first quarter, after a defensive turnover. Hawkins was 1v1 with Garth, about 5m in front. Ball hit the ground and Garth played the percentages by forcing Hawkins towards the left side boundary, forcing him to kick a left foot (non preferred) dribble kick running the opposite direction to goal in the wet from about 35m out. Hawkins as opposed to poor by Garth imo.
Still has a ways to go undoubtedly. But when you remember Grimes, Astbury, Rance and Broad in their first three seasons, it's no reason to give up hope on Garth.

People are very quick to undersell Garthwaite
His work rate is also huge generally plays 100% game time and covers the most kms in the side
