If freo are serious about getting a contracted tim english this off season they will have to pony up a good trade probably their 1st + sean darcy to even get the dogs to the trade table . They would then need to sweaten that deal .
This will take them out of any kelly talks

English is good but he's not that good.

If they are trying to bring in English as #1 ruck with Lobb as #2 playing forward then Darcy would probably look at moving on anyway. We lost Sinclair in 2015 and Lycett last year because you're a long time retired and there are at most 36* ruck spots available in the league each week.

*unless you are WC playing silly buggers picking ALL OF THE TALLS at once

so 2 firsts, a second and a player for an uncontracted player with 2 years in the system who is desperate to come home. Crazy. I would find it very, very amusing if we just offer what we did last year. this years 2 second rounders and our second rounder next year.
It's all said and done now, but it's worth considering the comparison to the Tom Boyd scenario. He was desperate to get back to Melbourne for family support and it cost the Bulldogs a top 10 pick and Ryan Griffen, who at the time was in their best 3 midfielders.

Tom's career was always based on potential, but in Kelly's case you've got a more mature player that has actually delivered a couple of seasons on that potential. He's worth similar to what Essendon paid for Shiel.

I suppose all we need to do then is trade them a first rounder and Jackson Nelson :drunk:

Hi Bond.

Thoughts on Robertson in the draft?

High production inside mid. Priddis with better pace.

Would we be keen and what pick do you think he will go draft day?

Cheers

Hi Obeanie

WC are well aware of Darren's nephew & both his onfield performances & leadership skills are very strong. I imagine all clubs will be interested.
As to where he'd go draft day - well its too early to say. A lot will depend on the 18's carnival.

Do whatever we can to get Robertson.

Not much info is known about him. But he sounds like Luke Hodge! Future captain. Only thing we need to know about is his kicking skills.

Well BOND 007 it would be fair to say that Deven got his championships off to a flyer on the weekend.
Always nice to see the kids ,when put front and centre under the spot light, stand up.
A prospective draftees temperament ,IMO, is a very good indicator as to how he will transition to the next level.
When projecting a kids draft range and ranking, I personally place high value and bias , on their ability to be able to deliver under pressure.

He certainly didn't look out of place against the highly touted Vic Metro duo : Anderson & Rowell.
In boxing speak - I know who took the points.

West Coast and Fremantle continue to make clear how interested they are in a player leading the AFL Coaches Association award from stars like Patrick Cripps and Patrick Dangerfield.

“To a certain extent Tim has to make up his mind what he wants to do and that will be predicated by what offers come forward,” van der Wielen said.

“It won’t just be about money, it will be about family first and we will see what happens.”

“I can’t tell you if he is staying at Geelong or coming home but we really don’t know. It will come down to what is on offer and what it means for Tim’s family.”

Lucky we have the mantra: Friends , Family, Flags. Freo cannot offer any of that.

If he wants say 800-850 i am sure we can get that somewhere.
Along with the old chestnut "TK we will look after you and your family when your career finishes"

Haven't read it all but wouldn't we just run as fast as possible away from these Kelly hypotheticals ...scary stuff for one player , sometimes you gotta move your focus elsewhere . We're being had

WCE should know Deven as he trained with them as part the AFL academy placements also Elijah Taylor , Mitch Georgiades , Rhai Arn Cox and Deven Robertson ..

Eagles give their first and second this year along with first for next year also throw in the old steak knives (Jackson Nelson) Geelong boy who can’t get a game at the eagles. Problem solved! Nic Nat signs a smaller contract Kelly gets his wish to be in WA. Thank you come again.

No ThankYou! Two first rounders and a second round pick, and a player. You have got to be joking. That's more than Dangerfield, Mitchell or any deal I can think of.

I rather trade for a pick upgrade and go for Robertson or just go the draft with the picks we have.

New Kelly trade scenario.

First, we draft Coniglio as a free agent. Then, we get AFL to change the trading rules so that we can on-trade a player we just traded in. Then, we trade our first pick, future first, and Coniglio for Kelly to appease Cats fans. Then we add Nelson in just when they are creaming themselves, just to add sprinkles to the money shot. Then we change the AFL rules back, and keep Kelly. Then we wave goodbye to Nelson who is happy to be home.

I see one small problem, it is the elephant in the room. Coniglio has more class than Kelly
