Lions clearly rather keep him if they can.
Don't think Beam's attitude has especially discouraged them.

If his front loaded contract is as reported there are no real salary implications for the Lions keeping him either. They definitely have the whip hand but we need to hold out for the deal that works best for us.

Those saying we should have chased May instead need to realise that we couldn't compete with pick 6 (take Kade Kolo out - he was a freebie in that trade). The only way Melbourne got that pick was to sacrifice a gun player in Hogan. We haven't done that which is great. Not sure 18 and/or our future 1st would have got the Suns to the table. Would we have been happy (on here) to spend 2 x firsts for a solid citizen FB? I wouldn't.

Lets just see how it all pans out at 8:30 tonight before we start burning Ned Guy effigies down at the Holden Centre.

I'd have a guess and say they don't wanna give up 2 first rounders for him. Typical Essendon.

Given what other players have been going for in this trade period I wouldn't want to either if I were them.

I'm almost certain that this deal is already done and they are holding it over for the live show.
