COLLINGWOOD
BIGGEST WIN: Jeremy Howe for Pick 29, 50 and Ben Kennedy
BIGGEST LOSS: Pick 18, 56 and 2019 first-round pick for Dayne Beams, Pick 41 and 44
RECAP: You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone back in 2015 who would’ve said: ‘In five years time, Jeremy Howe’s serious knee injury would perhaps be the biggest blow of Collingwood’s 2020 season.’ But such has been his rise to stardom at the Pies. The trade for Howe effectively involved four clubs and many moving parts, but the Pies clearly won out. Dayne Beams’ return to the Pies has not panned out the way anyone at clubland would’ve wanted, considering they gave up a pretty penny to get him back. Recruiting Taylor Adams for Heath Shaw has turned out pretty well, given Adams is in career-best form and is just 26-years-old compared to Shaw, who’ll turn 35 in November. The initial trade that saw Beams head to Brisbane was a win for the Pies, who gained Pick 5 (Jordan De Goey), 25 (on-traded for Levi Greenwood) and ‘steak knives’ player Jack Crisp, who has more than shown his worth in his time at the club. Jordan Roughead looks a bargain at this stage for Pick 75.
GRADE: B+
Geez that Howe deal was a massive win
Outside of the Beams deal, some solid recruiting.
If only we didn't blow the Lynch deal, the Beams trade would never have happened.
