COLLINGWOOD

BIGGEST WIN:
Jeremy Howe for Pick 29, 50 and Ben Kennedy

BIGGEST LOSS: Pick 18, 56 and 2019 first-round pick for Dayne Beams, Pick 41 and 44

RECAP: You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone back in 2015 who would’ve said: ‘In five years time, Jeremy Howe’s serious knee injury would perhaps be the biggest blow of Collingwood’s 2020 season.’ But such has been his rise to stardom at the Pies. The trade for Howe effectively involved four clubs and many moving parts, but the Pies clearly won out. Dayne Beams’ return to the Pies has not panned out the way anyone at clubland would’ve wanted, considering they gave up a pretty penny to get him back. Recruiting Taylor Adams for Heath Shaw has turned out pretty well, given Adams is in career-best form and is just 26-years-old compared to Shaw, who’ll turn 35 in November. The initial trade that saw Beams head to Brisbane was a win for the Pies, who gained Pick 5 (Jordan De Goey), 25 (on-traded for Levi Greenwood) and ‘steak knives’ player Jack Crisp, who has more than shown his worth in his time at the club. Jordan Roughead looks a bargain at this stage for Pick 75.

GRADE: B+

Geez that Howe deal was a massive win 😂

Outside of the Beams deal, some solid recruiting.

If only we didn't blow the Lynch deal, the Beams trade would never have happened.

Was the Best Trade for us in that Trade Period

Should be throwing everything a Chol. Not to mention other tiger rookies.

Chol is a great talent on probably min wage. Offer him what Cox is on.

and Does not want get hit in the Dick;)

He's seriously average

Might be a reason he wasn't picked up earlier
Not enough tricks
Far too small
Not daring enough
He ain't Caleb daniels with his disposal
Not super 1 on 1
Huge weakness amongst many orhers

All I can say is if you think nobles the answer
Or do you accept meduocrity
your delusional if you think nobles quicker than hunt
Hunts a much much better player

Here's a thought igot someone else better out of contract seemingly on the outer who can step in and fill a wing ,a hff or a HBFkeep in mind has to be under
$300k a year
Has to be able to be obtained for less than a second rounder
Got a idea (any)
I've given mine

PS sa footys a long way away from AFL wing in sa footy ,too small for wing in AFL
So good he got passed over by how many clubs
How many times

Yeah nobles the answer
Noble may not be the answer, but neither is Hunt. His disposal is on par with Phillips, you’re kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

He never gets the praise he deserves since he’s playing with “superstars”.

He was leading the Coleman after the first 4 rounds. He plays predominantly on the wing.

Compare his stats to Brad Hill’s.

Perryman averages more:
Disposals
Goal
Tackles
Rebound 50
Contested & uncontested
Intercepts
Marks
Meters gained
Clearances

Hill spoken about as a great wingman. Perryman is playing better this year.

I'm not disagreeing that he's having a very good year, even better than last year which was also very good for a 3rd year mid with <50 games under the belt. I guess it comes down to what your expectations are. I rarely hear him mentioned by commentators without the caviet that "he's having a very good year" or similar, and he'd likely be in the top 4-5 in their B&F if counted today due to his consistency and durability. I'm just not sure who it is that is underrating him.

Dont take that seriously. Dont think he has gotten anything right lol If he wanted to leave, he would have left last year

Swap Bruest ,Gunston ,Sicily ,and their this years 1st rounder,For Elliott,Phillips,Thomas,Varcoe,Cox,Mayne,Beams,Reid, get it done.:p

I think we should go after Brisbane under Australian Consumer Law and ask for a refund on Beams. You Can ask for a refund when a product has a major problem:

A product or good has a major problem when:

1. it has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying it if they’d known about it

2. it is significantly different from the sample or description

3. it is substantially unfit for its common purpose and can’t easily be fixed within a reasonable time

4. it doesn’t do what you asked for and can’t easily be fixed within a reasonable time; or
5. it is unsafe.

I think we have a good case 🤣

We actually have around a 50/50 win loss ratio with or without Adams, so don't think that is accurate

Timing would be everything. Lose him while we're without Howe, JDG, Treloar et al and we'd be screwed. A relatively healthy list and we'd cope.

Agree, i am not an Adams lover because of his horrible turn overs going inside 50, but have to give the guy credit for his efforts and courage around the contested ball.So can see why some love him.

So would VFL Teams have the U-18's like what Happened in the AFL/VFL back in the Day so Collingwood could Techinally have a U-18 Side?

I think there are a few ideas floating around.

One is that the Eastern states play a combined AFL reserves comp. But all the flying around from QLD and NSW down to Vic and vice versa could be pricey. And with smaller list sizes it might be hard to field a full reserves team

Then the VFL and NAB comps merge. NAB kids are the reserves and the overagers are the seniors. E.g. Northern Knights merge with Coburg or now defunct Preston.

Great. Let someone overpay for Elliott. Under contract now so we'll take some draft picks and turn it into a KFP signing.

Also just looking at the draft, we get McInnes (192 and 84) as an inside MID and Daicos (183cm) who is potentially top 5 the year after, I didn't realise that. McInnes has the size to go straightaway.

Perryman is a HUGE upgrade on Philips, so much more damaging and he kicks goals. Tick.
Still think we go after Hately/RCD, we need another BIG inside MID whom can even the contest.

Then we grab Brown. I also am warming to the suggestion of rookie drafting McCartin.

We have a 2020 first, second (tied to RICH), third (tied to NM so nearly a late second), fourth (tied to Saints) and a fifth. We should be able to utilise our later picks to nab McInnes as a bid with protecting our 2020 first. Looking likely we'll have a top 12 pick but with all the NGA's and Father/Son this will blow out.

Trade our 2020 first, 2021 first (healthy list we finish top 4) for Hately and Perryman and 2 future picks back
Trade 2 future picks onwards to Norf for Brown
Rookie select Paddy
Draft McInnes and rookie draft a mature age pressure forward.
Get Daicos year after
Not to mention picks we could get for Philips, Shaz etc that we could use in this draft however I am tempted to trade them on for players due the draft being so compromised. I also don't mind going after Mason Wood, he's a nice size and could complement Mihocek nicely in the right system. Would cost us nothing

Could potentially even hunt a Gunston type.

Would anyone hate that? Ideally stocking our KPF depth, getting McInnes and Daicos and nabbing some players (Hately, Wood, pressure forward) who would instantly make us better and grabbing Perryman (elite prospect)

How is it reasonable to cut a teenager (Atu) and a 20 year-old (Tohill)? Is this because of your vendetta against players new to AFL?

Delisting guys like Phillips is also foolish, considering he almost certainly has trade value
Phillips is contracted, can't delist without pay out!

The bits I'd hate would be ANY DRAFTING OF INJURY PRONE PLAYERS.
So....Wood..nup, Paddy..definitely NOT, Brown.....see ya later.
As for picks for Shaz???? who's gonna give us a pick for a bloke thats played 1/10 games during his career?

Sorry mate, you're dreaming.
