what are your thoughts on why Stevo needs to go?

Opposition players know he isn’t a physical player and put pressure on him, he is also very slow to release the ball. I think we trade him whilst he has some little currency left. Just my opinion that’s all.

Wouldn’t be that far off, Wright isn’t getting a game and Sexton has been dropped a couple of times.

Despite Phillips being a whipping boy he has currency and is best 22. Thomas dropped a couple of times but has spent the best part of the last 3 seasons as a best 22.
Sexton kicked 39 goals last year as a small forward. Saying he’s worth the same as Thomas or Phillips because he’s had patchy form this year is akin to saying Stephenson is worth the same as those two guys.

Not really at all. Stevo is in his 3rd year coming off 0 pre-season.

Sexon kicked 39 goals in 2019, before that his best output was 28, and before that was a poultry 13. He’s not a new player, he’s played 129 games.

JT kicked 38 in 2018, his career best year on par with Sextons - granted he played 4 more games.

I think Sexton is a better player but the hypothetical trade was Phillips > more currency that Wright and Thomas < less currency than Sexton.

I don’t know enough about sexton, but Thomas kicked 38 in 2018. Is sexton a huge upgrade?

Good question - Sexton doesn’t even average a goal a game in his career and has been around long enough now - his 9th year in the AFL.

I think he’s a decent player but he’s being talked up.

fair enough - I can’t agree as I see far more upside and value in the long term with him staying.

Thomas has had 18 months of poor form. If Sexton has 1 goal to his name in 3/4 of a season next year then he might be the same value as Thomas.

What’s Sextons value in your opinion?

In 129 career games
- averages 12 touches
- .9 of a goal a game

Wouldn’t go near the bloke. Quit GWS mid year to force a trade back to home state and hasn’t been able to make it work there.

He gone way Backwards after that very Promising Start at GWS

Moore is under utilised in defence, Happy to say it. Yes he’s potential AA back, but play him forward. I’d give anything to see him playing forward for us.
He certainly has all the attributes of a top KPF. Reads the play well, strong hands, fast, good leap, and an athletic beast that’s 203cms and 100kgs.

3 years, 47 games, 56 goals. 15 games goalless. He was shifted to defence in the 2018 preseason and played there all year, despite the 3 goals he kicked early on.
There are very few key talls who have amazing numbers in their first 3 years in the system. As an experiment, let’s compare Moore’s numbers at the same age to Ben King, whom everybody thinks is the second coming of Jesus:

Wow, apart from Kings 0.2 goals per game more, it seems Moore has him covered in almost every area...
What about their debut seasons then:

Hmm, a little more even, but overall Moore has the slight edge still imo, despite the fractional goal difference. So, do we conclude that Ben King is only going to be a 30-40 goal forward, or will his output shoot up in a couple of years once he’s got some experience and another 10kgs under his belt like Moore has now?

In addition, we had a very solid defence in 2018 with no Moore for the most part. He’s a gun defender, no doubt, but defenders are easier to find and produce than gun key forwards. I think you’re overestimating how much our defence relies on him. Howe is a far more important cog in the machine imo, as is Langdon.

Nope. He’s one of the best key defenders in the league, no doubt. He also has the tools to be one of the best key forwards too, which are far harder to find and thus, more valuable.

I've never once stated Ben King is the next coming of Jesus. Nice to pigeon hole stats though.

So let's compare them both to the gun CHF options in the competition.

Jezza Cameron - First 50 games (120 goals, 62 in his second season)
JJK - First 50 games (70 goals, 41 in season 4)
JRoo - First 50 games (60 goals, 78 in his third season)
Buddy - First 50 games (105 goals, 63.57 in third season)
Gunston- First 50 games (88 goals)
THawkins - First 50 games (70 goals)
Tex - First 50 games (105 goals, 53rd in 4th year)
Daniher - First 50 games (66 goals, 43.32 in season 4)
Hogan - First 50 games (105 goals)
B Brown - First 50 games (95 goals)
Lynch - First 50 games (68 goals, 40 in season 3 on a dog shit team)

I could go on. But what we should also realise is King was drafted as a KPD so yeah he’s filling a team need but he’s only getting KOTD because he’s a King and he shows a little bit every now and then.
Both of them aren’t even close to what some of the better key forward were doing so are we happy with possible mediocrity just to fill a team need or would we rather keep him where he DOMINATES?

Referring to a question earlier, from 2018 > 2019 we gave up 16 less goals with Moore down back.

target some goal kickers maybe
I like this idea because if we kick more goals than the opposition we should win more often than not, may even be more than often.

Thoughts you splendid kenty?

I think you’ll find that GC will trade Wright if they receive a very good offer. If not, they are more than happy to keep him as a required player waiting in the wings. He’s only 23 after all.
