These Gunston rumours are a good reminder of the shenanigans that AFL media types pull during trade season and a good reminder to not get sucked in. These rumours started all because Tom Morris tweeted Pies looking into Gunston, remember last year when we were also looking at getting pick one to get Rowell? We should be glad that it looks like the Pies are actively trying to improve their list and find a KPF but we also have a game to win next week and that should be the main focus. Journos will always create rumours with the pies and it sells papers and generates click.

Early in the year Fremantle were thinking of paying Hogan out, so I don't see it as unrealistic. How they're valuing him at the moment I have no idea what their intentions are with him. I strongly suspect he would be on the table, but if they rate him at all, I just don't know. They'd have to have really revised their views on him to suddenly rate him.

Given both Hogan's physical health and mental health issues, I personally don't place Hogan's value any higher than Phillips, with the swap being a consistent and reliable, plug and play performer for a high risk/high reward player (Hogan), who has a very low probability of returning to anything close to his best, as a once was. You just hope you can get any value out of Hogan, because there is the very real possibility you get no games out of him and have him walk away from the game at any stage. But if he does work out and you find a way to get him playing good football, then that's a bonus rather than an expectation, as he hasn't played good football since he last played for Melbourne, and you have to have full understanding in taking him on, that you're not with any certainty getting any games from him.
High risk, high reward. I’d do it in a heartbeat.

But then again I don’t really like Phillips in our 22 unless he’s on a wing, where he’s just okay anyway.

If it’s true Carlton are into Murphy and we just let him walk for practically nothing, and he starts developing at the ****ing bluesers, it shows where our club is at. Not sure what’s happened to him. Should of been a mainstay in the best 22 this season with all the injuries.

Either BB's knee is completely shot or Shaw has NFI if he thinks Brown can't make NM a better team.
But if BB passes a medical and we get him at the right price then, the link below will convince many he definitely gets us much closer to a flag.

5 of the first 7 goals are from SOFT frees, another comes from a dodgy kick that skims off a defenders hands straight to Ben who kicks an opportunist goal. In the 3 mins I watched his HIGHLIGHTS came against Brisbane, Adelaide and Hawthorn....can you please show him dominating outside against RICHMOND (even Coxy has done that) or against US? He's NOT A CONTESTED key position player.

Bleghhh, Jesse Hogan is damaged goods. Bring in Preuss, trade out Grundy, and bring in Jez Cam.

Collingwood have missed the opportunity to draft Jake Riccardi. But given how much less you would have to pay to get him and how much less of a salary cap hit it would require to get him, I'd rather have Jake Riccardi over Jeremy Cameron.

Am I crazy? Time will tell. But don't sleep on Riccardi. His rate of improvement has been ridiculous each year and I wouldn't be shocked if all said and done he's one of the best 5 from last year's draft, or if not then best 10.

If I could have Jake Riccardi and Tom Green in a package rather than Cameron, who probably has a higher market value, give me Riccardi and Green any day, and I'll enjoy the lesser salary cap hit all at the same time.

Fantasy world trade scenario stuff as per your example of trading Grundy which would never happen unless Grundy said he wanted out, but if I'm trading Grundy, GWS can have Grundy if a three-way trade to secure Riccardi, Green and Preuss was possible.
eg.
Collingwood get: Riccardi, Green, Preuss
GWS get: Grundy
Melbourne get: O'Halloran

Three instant best 22 players and losing just the one. Riccardi becomes the number one marking target and he can really attack balls aerially and be that i50 target. Preuss is a big presence. And Green can become the best first possession winner and contested ball winner in the competition.

From the Hine Interview they said he wants to Upgrade our 1st Round Pick

Well if the rumours of us considering trading out our 2021 first for the Dogs 2020 1st we would have 2 picks in the 12-18 range. Packaging them up together might bet us into the top 10 (before a Reef bid).

But what team would Happily Move Down?

I would not take those Rumors at the Moment too Seriously

Except we drafted Brown at pick 73, he had no trade value to North.

North drafted Rocca at pick 30. and got a bargain. If we hadn’t publicly delisted Rocca late in the H&A season like we did, we could have got that pick (or better). I still remember the interview in the HS late that year with Sav saying he had been told he would not be selected again in the seniors. I just remember wondering “what are they thinking?”

It was unfathomable list management, especially considering Sav’s form in 2000 wasn’t even that bad. Kicked a bag of 6 and another of 5 early on that year.

Can you imagine any club letting a 26 year old with over 500 career goals to his name go for nothing? You’d have to give two first rounders these days at a minimum to even start the conversation.

It’s 20 years ago and I still shake my head at the irresponsible and negligent approach to list management we showed.

I agree that the list managers made a blue, but MICK obviously wanted someone MORE "cold blooded" than Sav. Molloy came in and we almost pinched a flag. If Sav had played in 2002 we might have WON....

If we were to land Ben Brown and Jack Gunston for the loss of Stepho/Mihocek/Phillips/Elliott etc I'd be all for that. It would totally transform out forward line.

Adding Brown and Gunston gives me Ball and Jolly vibes; that helped us land the 2010 premiership! o_O

**** it, let’s just bring in Sideshow, Hogan, McCarthy, Wright and Daw.

Throw enough NQR key forwards at a dart board and one of em has to stick.

I've just heard we're trading Phillips to freo for Connor Blakey. Just what we need... Another mid lol
Having a quick read of the Freo board, they are desperate to unload Blakely in any way, shape or form. Seems to be held in the same regard as that guy who is held in no regard at all.

We are not getting Gunston but Brown still on the Table

The other similarity with Sav Rocca and Ben Brown.....

Both turfed by a new coach after one year.

One of whom was a premiership coach and a ruthless operator tasked with lifting a club, the other an inexperienced coach who himself was labelled soft as a player and is seriously trying to see that his team is not gifted that handle. Clearing out Brown and Higgins isn't about their ability as finishers!

yeah, can't say I'm surprised. There was that rumour going around last year right? About the falling out between him and Ed Langdon.
