He can have all the potential in the world Dave, it would still be completely irresponsible for any club to take him on. The guy needs to move on before he does irreversible damage to himself.
Agreed, surely he’s one more hit away from something terrible? Plus he’s already going to be a high candidate for CTE.

Potentially I agree. I think it comes back to Coxs mind set, seen him do really well in the ruck and then also be a bit timid and do the donkey kick.

When he runs and jumps into them with his knee up, he looks like a first class ruck, when he pulls up short sticks half a leg out like a 1950s chick kissing a guy not so much.

But yes he can be effective (due to height and reach) vs NN when attacking it properly at center bounces.

Cox on throw ins and around the ground game needs a lot of work also.

Imo if he is to become a AFL ruckmen then he needs to play the year out there in 2s then do preseason then get traded to either Carlton, Brisbane, Bulldogs, GWS or Essendon.

No way he will get anything other then filling for injury or resting Grundy.

Buckley needs to tag or at least run with role on Shuey vs WC.

I agree He has to have the positive mindset to jump with NN at centre bounces, but I wouldn't bother having Cox contest with NN around the ground. Let him do the centre bounces and then go forward and have Grundy take over the around the ground contests.

Even if Elliot rumour was true which it clearly isn’t, we wouldn’t entertain it, we’d only be offered a second rounder and Elliot worth more than that to the team. Fake news

The rumour is clearly bullshit. But if it weren't we'd be better off trading now than watching him walk a year later for nothing as a UFA.

I know a lot here like the idea of J. Cameron barring them price tag that probably comes with (isn’t he one of the highest paid in the league?), but would there be any merit in chasing Weideman and Josh Kennedy? One for future and one in the window to at least compete for a flag (finals).

Also, why is Beams still on our list? Surely we know now he’s not coming back.

LOL apparently we have some doctors on the forum now. Head trauma doctors. Interesting.

We do have doctors on this forum. We've got surgeons. Lawyers. People involved in the game at various levels with industry contacts. We've got all sorts of people on this forum. You're being dismissive of some of these people when you should stop and listen.

weideman is contacted till end of 2021 so going nowhere. Kennedy will get a 1 year deal at eagles, hes 33 this year. Despite his form offering him a 2/3 year deal to pry him away Would be way to risky for a bloke his age. He’s great but not really an option.

I’m open to moneyball trades on brown or wright, but I hope we seriously try and get top 5 with trading of this years and next years firsts for a crack at McDonald. That said given he’s prob 2nd to Ugle, likely to go before we have a chance. We just can’t continue to try and win a flag without one very good KPF.

I’m still open to Moore forward with Howe and Langdon on the park!

Forgive me if it's been answered previously but regarding Jeremy Cameron, why is he deemed so unobtainable? Seen it a fair bit on this board that he's an unrealistic target, is this because of trade worth or contract size? Have I missed somewhere that it's been confirmed by him/GWS that he is signing on with them?

I know our salary cap is "bursting" according to the media, but if we have the clean out that most of us are hoping for surely there would be a solid bit of room in the cap to offer up. We have trade capital in our two first rounders, or if players were the Giants preference over picks I think there would only be maybe one or two players on our list that I would deem as "off limits" in terms of dealing to them.
Because he loves the club and the relative anonymity that comes with playing in Sydney. He’s just not likely to consider leaving, and we don’t have the cash to make him an offer he can’t refuse.

wonder if there’s any “influencers” 🤣

Anyone feel like we aren’t ruthless enough...

Dunn, Reid, Broomhead all left on the list...

meanwhile Richmond have recruited chol, stack etc via their rookie list while we waste spots on blokes who clearly won’t have impactful careers

We've had guys like Mihocek and Cox come through our rookie list in recent years. We've got some good service from it over the years including recently.

Think we definitely need to be a bit more ruthless this trade period.

I’d be moving on all these guys at minimum:
Beams, Shaz, Cox, Dunn, Reid, Broomhead, Wills, Varcoe.
Open to offers for WHE and Phillips.

We should be looking at richmonds list of rookies; Stack, Collier-Dawkins and Chol would be good gets. I’m sure there’s a few at GWS we could target.

If we could draft McDonald, McInnes and trade for some needs I’d be very happy.

We could sort our midfield after Pendles, Sidey, Adams and Treloar in the next 2 windows with McInnes, Daicos and some smart trades like Stack or Collier-Dawkins.

Treloar and Adams have Potentially 6 years left so not concerned there, sidey and pendles should be able to play for 2 more on form, end of 2022. But reef and daicos will help

Problem with trades for WHE and Phillips is their currency really is only BOTTOM 2nd round at best. The return makes the trades not really worth it.

Please no more McCartin talk. Not only does he have concussion issues hanging over him, but during his time at StKilda he had tremendous difficulty in maintaining his weight, and issues on game day regulating his blood sugar levels which would go out of whack because of nerves. He’s not worth the lost spot, and frankly, shouldn’t be putting his hand up again anyway given his concussion history. He’s asking for trouble coming back to the game imo...

If McCartin took Ben Reid’s list spot would it be all that bad?

Does anyone here know where about Reef will fall in the draft (I know we have rights to him). From what I’ve heard he’s an in and under midfielder. Maybe takes Wills spot on the list

I’ve read anywhere between 10 and 20 though apparently he’s got a back injury atm. Note I have no idea myself, just what I’ve read.

Big size mid and can kick a goal apparently. Does def fill a need for us, though i would prefer ugle 🤣

Heard anywhere between 10-30 maybe even a few picks earlier then 10

Yes! We need a player to fill that spot that’s actually going to be fit and available ffs... It’s not like we’re obliged to have a spot taken by a player who can only play 1 in 10 games for his whole career.....

Yeah I agree, not saying that Adams and Treloar are close to done but if we can potentially bring in 2/3 top 10 picks in the next 2 drafts plus trading it’s the time to go hard.
Also agree, if there was a decent trade available for WHE or Phillips I’d take it otherwise they’re great to have at the club. Just hope they can get back to 2018 levels.

Then we won't have many Players on our list IF we don't want them on there because of the Injury Proness

Only one thing. You know what contracts mean these days.

This is just a hypothetical exercise to get hold of Logan McDonald but interested in all your thoughts.
Our next 5 games are against North, Carlton, Lions, Suns and Port.
I can’t see us beating Carlton, Lions, Suns or Port.
And I reckon North will beat us this weekend after their performance against the Lions and ours against Melbourne.
If we lose all 5 games, where are we likely to finish on the ladder?
At a guess I think we finish about 13th/14th depending on other results.
If we end up with a pick in the top 6, are we getting closer to being able to trade our first pick this year and next for pick 2 or 3 this year (with whoever that may be)?
If we can secure even pick 3, it probably ensures we can grab Logan McDonald and secure our coveted KPF we all crave.
