They're not that good. Might be part of a trade up to eventually get to Brisbane's pick as don't think it's going to be possible to do a 6 for 1 type arrangement.

Got it from a good source we've been in Hugh Bond's ear from Adelaide. Been playing as a lockdown defender the past few weeks. He's super competitive, high-level rowing background, great endurance
Interesting, I don’t mind Bond but it’s hardly someone the fans can get excited about. I was also told the only reason we stumbled across Campbell Gray as a mid season draft prospect was because toce had our scouts keeping an eye on former saint jack peris who is plying for Essendon VFL. Apparently he fought hard for him to get another year at St.Kilda. Not sure if he would still be on our radar as a rookie or ssp. Can’t really offer an opinion on him as a player but I believe this to be fact as how we come across gray.

Oh he's good.
But he isn't worth selling the farm for in our situation.

Ben Miller and a 3rd should get it done

He is 28 at the start of the season, he is 27 while playing for us.

You also say he has 5 years left like its a fact, do I need to remind you of the great Dusty that apparently had years left in him playing forward and how quickly the end came, or Jack R, who didnt rely on pace.

Rioli relies on pace and its the first thing to go. Expecting 5 years of good footy has significant risk, it isnt a given.

I remember the outcry over paying pick 6 for a much younger A grade mid and you guys expect much much more for Rioli, good grief this is getting uncomfortable.

Prepare to be disappointed peeps.
Jeremy Cameron moved at 27 y.o in a convoluted trade.

If Suns really think D. Rioli is the key to making finals then pay full price. ( kindve staggers me that Rioli is such a need.) RFC will be weighing up cost of losing Rioli ~ arguably its best player this spoon winning year. our best sprinter off half back.
Benefit of cashing in the Dimma connection.

2 first rounders and a 2nd & ?? going back?

And I love Rioli but he aint Jezza Cameron

I also know GC want him and he will help them, but he aint the missing piece

Well with Grimes and Dusty retiring, that’s 535 games of experience out the door with most likely more to add. Be interesting to see where we ranked this year for Games/Age of the list to next year.
True, they were always going to retire. Naismith next.

Instantly, a younger list.

Don't see the point in trying to bank future picks if this draft is so strong.
Depends who we are eying off down the line through free agency. May need one or two to get deals done.

If we get 5 for rioli, take it as that is more than fair, if GC refuse to trade 5, then 12 and 21 is still good value, we're not getting 5 plus anything else for Rioli, comeon. Please let it be 5 so we can nab a second gun mid.

Mid teens for baker please and freo's first 2 picks for Bolton. That is realistic and the best we will get. Add in Brisbanes first pick and we go to the draft with 5 or 6 first rounders.

Worth noting as well that Cameron moved back to his state of birth. He wanted to return home.

Rioli isn't from the Gold Coast. Other than him being contracted, required and a top 3 player, it's another reason the trade needs to be massively lopsided in our favour.

To say Richmond will grant him his wish without it being a deal too good to refuse is misguided at best.

Where I see us getting more out of the trade is to take some of our salary cap to the trade, as we are going to have substantial space if all the players who have been mentioned leave & we need to spend it to keep up with minimum cap, That will allow us in a few seasons to have a great amount of cap room to attract free agents when the kids have a few season under there belts

Nah, Freo needs to understand what finishing ninth means.

Finish ninth means no Bolton.

Bolton is not chump change.

Bolton is West Coast territory, pick 3 and sure West Coast could draft but who are they going to draft at 3 to suit their situation? Bolton is better and Bolton with Reid helps them attract others and they are still drafting high. They have other WA talent and can get more going forward. The future is brighter, players going to West Coast have more reason to go there

That means Freo are no longer the clear WA dominant team at the moment and West Coast have more opportunity.

The media are talking down West Coast because AFL HQ want Freo to win a flag and be there, they want RFC fans to suffer and they they want the world to GC and then Tassie because they want to line their marketing pockets and RFC fans can eat a shit sandwich

We would be better off giving something back to West Coast for pick 3 than eating a shit sandwich from Freo

Agree 5 is the absolute dream deal for Rioli. Would be doing cartwheels for that.

Agree with you here. If we end up with 20, 21 & 22 as our last picks we can literally wait until the last minute to see who's still on the board before we trade out for future picks. This years draft is far more of a known entity than next years draft at this stage.

If we get to pick 20 and someone we rate as the 12th best player is still available then why would you trade it for what might be pick 16 next year in a draft where you have less information available about the players that will be on offer.

Do the same for picks 21 and 22.

All this talk about negotiating contracts or game time opportunities later down the track only occur if we have too much talent on the list to fit them all in, not a likely scenario IMO.
