Look I know everything, and I am always right.

This is the best I can do right now.

Tigerbob and tiger_tough and to a lesser extent, that dumb campaigner tigs2010 are just gagging for my posts today and I am incredibly stressed out.

Dude, that deal would be freakin robbery by us and we make out like bandits.
We agree to disagree.
You overvalue draft picks and I under rate them.

We need to get better than a good deal. Has to be amazing.

27 for 30 is bugger all - so it'd basically be 9 & 10 for Bolton and 17 for Baker. All of which will get pushed back.

The Baker value is good but we should be getting more than that for Bolton.
He's been talked about as being one of the best players in the comp at times.

It's highly likely that pick 9 & 10 become pick 11 & 12

Look at the last 5 years of picks 11 & 12.

Pick 11
2023 - Connor O'sullivan
2022 - Oliver Hollands (Phillipou went at 10)
2021 - Wanganeen Milera (Gibcus went at 9)
2020 - Luke Pedlar (Perkins and Reid went at 9 & 10 for Essendon)
2019 - Sam Flanders (Green went at 10 but was an academy pick)

Pick 12
2023 - Phoenix Gothard
2022 - Jaspa Fletcher
2021 - Josh Sinn
2020 - Tanner Bruhn
2019 - Kysaiah Pickett ( the only one of the list that stands out)

The miss rate from every club at picks like those is scary.

Jye Caldwell @ 11 and Butters @ 12 in 2018 weren't fails, I would argue that Wang-Milera is a hit along with Flanders, Hollands, Fletcher, Bruhn and Pedlar, too early to tell on O'Sullivan and Gothard (luv that name)

You could do the same with all the picks though. Going by that theory we should be trading down pick 1 to pick 7 & 8.

Genuine question, what players have been traded for more than picks 9 and 10? I don't expect you to know, I dont, but there wouldnt many in recent history.

Judd but no comparison as he was the arguably the best mid in the game at that time.

Dylan Shiel and 2nd rounder for - 9 and 14 - he was a star when traded though

Tim Kelly - was a gun traded, went for much less

I am not overrating picks, but 9 and 10 are a massive price to pay for any player.

Regarding Baker, I have also thought 13-17 was fair, so the small upgrade probably just tops it up.

Kelly went for 14, 24, 33, and 2020 first-round pick (18)
Cerra went for 6
Cameron 13, 15 & 20

The Kelly one is the comparison I'd be looking at and they got a better deal than 9 & 10.

It also needs to be taken into account that Bolton is box office. A marketers dream. He has the x factor that gets eyeballs on games and bums on seats. Crowds and members. That is worth a lot.

That’s depressing

Maybe, maybe not - if you check all the different expert ratings they have no idea who the best players are in this draft. All they know is the draft is deep so expect a lot of good players outside of the top 5-10
I'd rather one Shai Bolton that two Ben Lennons thanks.

Makes sense now, club was sick of Geelong infiltrating the AFL to screw us, so we now have moved plants all over the league to improve our club.

Dimma to Gold Coast was deliberate to get their draft picks.
Benny Gale too give us Tassies first 3 picks for Cumbo even though we delist him this year

how realistic would it be for us to hand over Lynch and a late first rounder for Melbournes pick 7?
I recall seeing somewhere that he is on a back ended contract and on like $1.5 mill next year.

Anyway I wouldn't be letting Tom go. Too many others likely going and we need to have some enjoyment in the next couple of years. He was still capable of getting a hold of sides (at least he was until Meehan got a hold of him)

I believe there was picks added to the other way in the Kelly trade ??? and I dont think what they paid for him is better than 9 and 10 personally

And yep, we agree on Bolton as a player, just not on his trade value. Lets hope you are right and for the first time ever, I am wrong ;)

Not super fussed by age but more the amount of games

We are seriously going to be lacking players in that 100-150 game bracket

Our forward line especially could do with an injection of some experience just for some extra on field leadership especially if Lynch can’t get back on the green stuff
Stringer.🤓

It was only two mid-late 3rd rounders in the Kelly trade and the future first was actually 13 before free agency compo and matched bids.

We already know pick 9 and 10 (if Freo don’t make finals) is pick 10 and 11 (Ashcroft), could be 11 and 12 if Battle compo gets to first round, and could be 12 and 13 if there is a bid on Lombard. Their pick 17 is basically guaranteed of being no earlier than 19 as well.
