Really poor reporting here, neither the tigers or cats haven't got the ability to bring in Taranto for close to what he's worth.

24 year old goal kicking midfielder, won a bnf when they made the gf.

The pies have Grundy as leverage to get him in, can't see him going anywhere else, although you'd think any Vic club should be interested. Only the Dee's would be the only Vic club with little interest especially in Dunkley leaves the dogs, you'd imagine they would be keen
Doesn’t fit you’re age profile pal

I wonder if we have any interest in Miles Bergman who is supposedly wanting to be traded at the end of the season. At the time of the 2019 draft there was talk we wanted to trade up to get him.

Although hard to know how relevant these type of things are once players are drafted. In the same draft we apparently bid on Cumberland first with the hope that Brisbane would match leaving them with nothing to match for Will Martyn.

Another player who interest me and is OOC is David Cunningham. Been injured the most part of the last two seasons but would thrive under our game plan.

Bergman would be a good get and can see him becoming a big mid

Cunningham we really have no need or position for and adds nothing to our list whilst also being injury prone
He was also taken with the Yarran pick they got from us so good to see it didnt have any value to the blues

Whoever wanted to trade up for Bergman should be sacked for not wanting to trade up for Georgiades.

He’s everything we need right now as the perfect Jack replacement

I recall TigerBob posting that we wanted Sam De Koning with the pick that ended up being Dow. Also think it was TB who mentioned we were trying to trade up for Bergman but not entirely sure on that one.

SDK instead of Dow wouldve been a good result.

Would we have taken Gibcus last year however if we took Sam.

Grundy is not leverage. Given his seven figure annual salary, he's actually a burden.

Richmond's or Collingwood's 1st draft pick, wherever that may finish between #12 and #19, is actually worth more to GWS in their current predicament than Brodie Grundy.

It's just that Richmond will also have #21 (or#22 if North get an end-of-round PP) to throw in as well. Collingwood will only a future 1st to supplement their 2022 1st in any offer.

Yeah I was very keen on SDK as well.

Has Noah Anderson resigned with the suns ?

I see his brother was dropped this round.

Pittonet preferred in the ruck and Silvagni up forward

I posted a couple of weeks ago we should be into TDK, for the very reasons he ended up being dropped. He's not going to get played ahead of Curnow and McKay, and Pittonet is the preferred first ruck, this means they cant play DeKoning and Silvagni.

Silvagni was dropped the week before and then brought back in for DeKoning. If his management was smart they would see he does'nt really have a confirmed place in that team.

Would be a good Jack replacement, and Norths 2nd should get it done. I was told a couple of weeks ago that apparently we were no chance but when you get dropped the 2nd last game of the year and the clubs biggest of the season it doesn't tend to go down well with players.

I can’t speak for the Cats’ list management, but where Richmond’s sits, it doesn’t have a ton of contracts which will be in force going into 2025 and beyond.

At the end of 2024, RFC’s three biggest contracts currently (not withstanding a possibly Bolton extension) will be off the books (Lynch, Prestia and Dusty).

The way for RFC to make it work is a back ended contract that takes effect in 2025 for three to four years.

The issue with Grundy as leverage is that his contract (reported 5 years at $900k+ per annum) is EXTREMELY difficult to fit into an existing cap. Remember, teams have to pay a minimum salary cap (reflective of minimum contracts); and the cap has gone down as a result of COVID. Almost no team has the ability to absorb that amount of money.

It’s easier to sign players to new contracts (back date them etc) but Grundy’s is obviously already in force.

Generally what teams could do is trade and extend, whereby you flatten out the per year worth of the contract by adding years. But for it to have a major impact, that would have to be something like an additional 2/3 years. A 7-8 year contract for Grundy is equally as hard to move as an expensive one.

It’s why the Pies - should they move Grundy - will have to pay a hefty part of his contract; similar to Treloar. I’d say it’d be around $300k per season (either paying a bulk up front or averaging it out) which will mean they have a lot of dead cap.

Add to that re-signing De Goey (rumored $800k per year) and the likely targets of McStay and Bobby Hill; Pies’ cap could be very full very quickly.

I reckon Taranto is keen to get to the Lada Centre. I said this at the time Treloar was shafted by Floggingwood, why would anyone want to go there ?!? Now they're trying to offload Grundy too.

Their modus operandi is to sign A graders on back ended deals so that they pay them way under market value for a couple of years then offload them unceremoniously without ever having to pay the backended part of the contract, effectively ripping them off.

In before Taranto signs a huge five year deal with Shitpies, plays two years at $500k a year and then gets the boot before the bigger parts of his contract kick in. Why would you recommend them if you were his management ?!?

Pickett boys are
11 , 10 & 4
oldest is available for the draft in 6 years and the next 7 years
Shai ,Maurice & Daniel will play with the boys
marlion is going to play with his sons

I posted this a few days back. Yes thats what theyre doing, theyre happy to pay $200k a year on a contract if they can get $1,000,000 off their books. It leaves them with $800k a year to hunt their next big name. Itll fall apart eventually because in the end clubs will and have probably already realised whats happening and they may decide to not trade for these players leaving the pies up the creek without a paddle.

seriously marlion was in the can for 6-7 years so he will play till hes late 30s

wouldnt be out of the question to play a season or 2 with his eldest sons
