maybe let the media know that. They keep bringing up hopper and tarantos draft positions to justify us handing over too 1st rounders. IMO GRaham is worth the same as hopper. What has hopper achieved that graham hasn't? Plus hes basically contracted for an extra year
Exactly. In fact, I would rather hang onto our draft pick and not get Hopper and keep Graham instead. I know we have committed to Hopper but if he is going to cost us the earth, perhaps we should be reconsidering. Let the old people's home have him (even though they profess they have better options ... once they lost the race to get him of course).

If we do trade out JGTI, and if Hopper is worth a high first round pick then so is Graham. Period.

Probably going to considered blasphemy on this board right now but Hopper is a much better player than Jack Graham.

Im not sure why they are being compared though.

I am just getting into a argument with Port, Bulldogs and other supporters who cannot rate players properly in the Jack Gram thread.

The point is in a trade you have to pick the idiot counterparty otherwise they overrate their own players etc...

Otherwise better off going to draft and or FA

I am amazed at how many of our own supporters undersell JGTI. They are happy to pay our 2 first round picks for the 2 GWS boys who have never done much more than Jack yet when it comes to selling Jack off, they reckon we are lucky to get a late 2nd round pick. Amazing.

Hopper is not a bad player but what has he done that makes him a superstar in some posters eyes?

2 first round picks is media talk both are upgrades on him if we can't replace a player like Graham well we shouldn't be in professional footy.

Yes, I also rate Starcevich quite highly for the same reasons you've mentioned. But to use "touches" as the key metric in analysing what Jack Graham brings is a little disingenuous. Especially when the same measure could be used to downgrade Starcevich's excellent defensive contributions.

As for Berry, I (stupidly) had him in my fantasy team for probably the first 15 weeks of this season, so followed him really closely in all Brisbane games, which I'm prone to do for taking that stupidity way too seriously. He generally plays very wide, is a good tackler and scrapper, however doesn't win too many contests outright (at best breaking even in most), is not especially quick, has little to no aerial game, with reasonable-to-good disposal and decision making. His stocks increased profoundly after he went onto Oliver and shut him done in the latter part of the semi final, and his season did improve in the last month or two (after I'd traded him out of course!). No way his track record, leadership capacity or even potential outweighs that of Jack Graham though.

Anyway, like I've said, JGTI is only worth what some other club is willing to part with. And only if he wants out. I'd be playing hard ball if I was Richmond if he did want to go home to SA, and only considering it once we've got the GWS trades locked in. Port own Pick #8 - that's gotta be part of the conversation.

Yes, I agree I’ve been harsh to use ‘touches’ to value Graham. However, no club is going to part with a top-10 pick … even if bundled with other picks …. for a defensively strong role player.

But I really hope he stays as I believe we have a 3-5 year ‘window’ to contend and he’d be a valuable element to that.

Such a sensitive board this has become

It’s AFL and all elite sport, players trade, loved and disliked, some for good deals, some get bent over, win some, lose some

Trust in Richmond hierarchy and enjoy the ride you pack of sensitive campaigners

Chris Mayne is just sitting back laughing at all this talk. He knows he wins

30 plus years means never trust the hierarchy unless it is earnt

I trust Gale, but those after Dusty, Cotch, Rance, JR, Edwards etc.. still have some trust to be earn't. I do trust Clarke

Geelong know what they are doing to

Graham being a required player to play the Lambert role and being contracted next year means we can't just roll over. If Graham is going to wave his Free Agency, then he will want a large contract in both years and cheddar.

Being that he was a runner up last year and is a 2x Premiership player. If Hopper is worth 2 firsts then Graham would be worth 1xFirst rounder 1xsecond rounder with a third round sent back.

I’m not a big u18 watcher but all the talk I’ve heard is that this year’s draft isn’t that strong and clubs will try and trade into next year’s draft which at this early stage appears stronger.
But hey, how many times have we heard that. Time will tell
That is exactly how I have heard it. Most clubs will be wanting 2023 picks. Top end this year is strong, as it always is.

Friend has SEN on and I couldn't help hearing fireman Kane say Graham was worth a late 2nd round pick if he goes. Later when talking to someone else he says Graham would be a great pick up for Port as he is a great player and would add to their midfield. He needs to remember what he says but I suppose with a brain the size of a bird, that may be asking a lot.

w***er.

Once again, the easiest way to think of what a player is worth is to imagine Graham was in what’s regarded as a weak national draft this year. Kane says a late second … would Graham really last beyond pick-30 if he was in the draft this year? No.

Would he go top-20 given you pay him $500k compared to $100k for a draftee? Probably not.

His value falls in the 20’s. Given he is contracted then low 20’s is where he falls.

I hope we are looking to trade out George. He won’t get a game in 2023 unless we cop injuries galore. So if he remains his career will be done end of 2023. For his own sake he needs to leave and try to cobble together a few more seasons.

Maybe Gold Coast who are losing a small forward in Rankine. Or Bombers who are incapable of putting on any forward pressure.

We move him on for whatever it takes … save $300k in the cap and help him extend his career.

Graham was pick 55? If we can upgrade him for a lower first high second, I'll drive him to the airport myself and I love Graham as a player.

That is a huge profit for investment imo.
Pure speculation on my part, but wouldn’t really be surprised if it was suggested in his exit interview that with Hopper and Taranto coming in, Sonsie going to get even better same with Ross, not going to be easy for him, was already around around the fringe of the best 22 so could be mutually beneficial to help get some assets to trade to GWS and he gets more regular game time.
Footy is brutal

My point is why bitch, complain and stress out when it clearly doesn’t influence anything

Maybe we need you Magic as recruit manager, psychologist and individual future predictor
Then we wouldn’t pick any dudds in the draft 🤷‍♂️
