Am pleased we are getting Longer. Top of his draft class for rucks, plenty of promising signs and is leaving Brisbane because of Leuey and first team oppurtunity, not lack of ability.

Just hope the trade cost isn't too steep.

Shuey and Darling are not going anywhere.

Both contracted. Both have stated they want to remain at the club. Both have had their manager state they have no plans to move. In both cases the club has confirmed they absolutely want them to stay.
Dean Cox is out of contract tho right?

Don't know that you can demand too much for a guy who can't crack the seniors. We should be right.

Yeh.....which club wouldn't want a player that's had dual knee reco's and is yet to play a game........really wtf!
You are probably right, it was more throwing names around that will find it difficult to get in if we got Adams, I doubt we can afford to get Shuey and too many changes, doesn't he have a bad shoulder. Woodward would only be as sweetner, but you are probably right. I have listed guys that we could afford to lose and still be premiership window. I know people have added Sucking to that list as well. So, there are plenty of guys that we could throw up when dealing with GWS for Adams.

On another note, who will be our future FB, CHB. If people think Shoe is capable of CHB, do we need to start drafting someone to groom for FB or one the NZ guys will be given that role.

If we do get Longer, then expecting Hale/Longer combination, then could either Grimley/Lowden be traded as well, no that they will have huge currency.

This year or next.

Him and Embley own and manage a restaurant in Subi, so I am gathering he is stuck here.

Buddy has a Shoe Shine shop at Box Hill shopping centre.

He's leaving it all behind to slum it in Sydney

Nah, he is well settled mate. A couple of years married, now with a one year old.

This isn't me taking a stab in the dark, we have been pretty generous with the old blokes and usually renegotiate at their leisure. He would be one of our highest paid and part of that covered as a veteran.

Is he a waiter or head chef? Embley also has more time on his hands now

Disappointing to see Longer go, but if it was to any team in the AFL, I'd rather it be Hawthorn. Good luck to you guys next season and congrats on the premiership. :thumbsu:

it makes it hard to troll you when you make decent posts like that....thank god I got the WCE guy who is biting at everything.

I'm curious about Shaw, definitely not ruling him out. People seem to have very high standards at trade time. Players can cross over and have a very good impact. Many were pretty annoyed at getting Hale for a first round pick, and he's been a huge part of our success. Simpkin and Spangher have been brilliant depth players, and they seemed like nothing pick ups at the time. Shaw is seriously talented, don't fall in the trap of judging players how they performed in their last year, as a change of clubs can do the world for a player. He was a gun under Malthouse, and seems to not get along well with Bucks.

Not saying I'd throw the sink at him, but we could do with more run off the half back line. Duryea and Suckling set up play through their skills, not breaking the lines through running. We rely heavily on Birchall for that, which makes him a priority to be tagged by the opposition. Another runner would mean either leaving Shaw or Birchall free, which would be a powerful position.

Of course we'd "prefer" Adams, Shuey, or whatever, but I don't believe its realistic if we are going after Longer. I don't agree with trading out core club players like Lewis as the culture we develop is an important as any talent, and we don't have many picks left over.

Going after Shaw and Longer plus trading to use Savage to trade back in to the draft could be a reasonable outcome for trade week for us IMO.
