I understood this year was going to be some kind of super draft for midfielders.
But going by the highlights I can’t see much depth beyond the first 3/4.
Then again I might be completely wrong about that.
But would be happy with Smilie , Smith , O’Sullivan.
If they aren’t available then Trainor. I think we need a high end mid but would be hard to go past him in that situation.

Trainor looks like best kpp, can’t see him getting last norf or haw

Jack & Matt Whitlock (twins). Both 200cm+ kp/ruck. Look to have solid frames that will build size and strength. Good set of hands and solid kicking skills.

Either will be Worth a flyer.

Calders Harry O’Farrell, 196cm KPD has a lot tools. Will likely be a top 15 pick. Super reader of the ball in the air. Great kick. Has a lot of similarities to Jake Lever. Very Mobile and can win the ball overhead or on the ground. Will develop into a very handy intercepting defender.

Dandenongs Noah Mraz, 198cm defender also another one will be top 15-20. Great size and extremely quick for a tall Key defender. Gets a heap of the footy and moves really well. An imposing force in the air that will possibly rise up the draft rankings after the combine.

Mraz & O’farrell will likely be the vic country starting key defenders.

No Smillie? Big 194cm pure midfielder and highly rated
At the time I didn't think we'd be in position to get him as I had Hawks and North below us, that may well change given results today.

It’s a really weird time to be in this position but as a long term fan I’m excited to see the club go through this rebuild to see how we respond. I’m liking Yze so far, we’ve played with heart and had some exciting passages.
My club positions as follows
Premiership window/knocking on the door: Carlton, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, GWS, Geelong, Collingwood.
One step back: Port, Gold Coast
No man’s land: Essendon, Bulldogs, Freo, Adelaide, St.Kilda
Rebuild: Richmond, Hawthorn, North, West Coast
Based on that I think the Top 7 listed will play finals the next 3-4 years (maybe Geelong could slide), Port could slide and I think the no man’s land sides how found the true direction/sides yet.
We need to build for long term success and be able to play finals for 10 years.
Love these boys but I’d look to offload them best on where we sit and get some pics which we can go to draft and/or get an up and coming star if possible.
Rioli potential 1st Round
Baker 1st Round
Broad 2nd Round
Martin Retire Frees up cash
Prestia Retire Free up cash
Grimes undecided may go one more
Ralphsmith move on
McIntosh Float a trade may go to WA
Cumberland Float a trade
Graham Trade to SA
Pickett may go again but may get locked up

Players that need to elevate to the next level: Dow, Ross, Clarke, Coulthard, Brown, Mansell, Ryan, Sonsie, Banks, Campbell
Our lock for Top 23 if all fit: Vlaustin, Taranto, Short, Gibcus, Lynch, Balta, Hopper, Nank, Bolton, Brown, Young, Miller that’s only 12 when fit. We need a minimum of 5 from the players that need to elevate group especially Ryan.
That’s 17.
We need to find a solid spine and a midfield we’ll need to be very smart over the next two drafts and work on our medical team. We also need to make some big moves unfortunately otherwise there’s a fear we could be stuck in no man’s land.
More than 6 retirements/trades of current best 22 is almost too much.
Baker, Prestia, Grimes for sure.
Martin still playing OK. He might go one more year.

Graham & Kmac I hope.

Broad if he wants to leave, prefer to do it next year.
Hugo just saved his career last couple of weeks.
Pickett's never dropped, rarely injured he'll play on.
Cumbo can't get a gig. he's gone, maybe Green, Coulthard too,

See how the team plays with TT, JH, Prestia, Lynch all fit. IF that day ever comes.

Our KPF/tall fwd gap has killed us. JR retires replaced with Balta, Kosi. Soldo left replaced with Naismith, Ryan didn't come on this year.

Balta with L plates up there and no Lynch/Gibcus for 2 years.

Our first pick is going to be 1 or 2, hopefully we can get 3 inside first round with probable loss of Baker and trading picks to clubs that need points.
At this point Josh smilie will be ours if we want him , norf aren’t going past trainor and we could be bottom in any case
