pffft
what
for myers???

no thanks
Hahahahahahaah! WHAT!

Myers is 23 and really emerging as a star mid. In fact, I'd cry if I saw his slotting a goal from 65m out off one step for another side.

I would not even consider Myers for Dal Santo!

Only because they - along with 90% of the football world - severely overrate the #1 pick. Wallis for a three pick upgrade anywhere else would likely be a done deal, but the #1 pick is supposedly magical (despite it not having generated as many stars as other picks).

That said, for what GWS want they'd be getting ripped off severely. Plus, we wouldn't include our future captain and best young run-with player in any deal just to get a key forward. Wallis is a huge part of our club going forward.

Yep wallis and a gun mid (Billings, Kelly, or maybe even Scharenberg) Would be a awesome return for a #1 pick...but yeah the pick is over rated, but I also think GWS are craving more mature players to balance out their young list

If we trade Myers, we are shooting ourselves in the foot.
Best 22 player who belongs in our midfield (his requests arent unreasonable to be playing more midfield time).

Absolutely. Problem is they refuse to take mature players that are actually worth pick 1, instead chasing pipe dreams like Fyfe. I don't believe - and never have - that pick 1 is realistically on the table. They're just seeing how desperate teams are for a key forward and see what kinds of ridiculous deals they can get. Hypothetically throwing the number 1 pick out there and watching 17 clubs jump over each other for Boyd is a pretty effective strategy.

I agree! I was laughing at how he thought Dal Santo was worth more than Myers!

I love Myers mate!

Best quote ive heard on this is that no club will want to be seen as the one that gave Tom Boyd up. Ive seem him a couple of times and he is a monster kid. GWS will pick him. At worst, it gives them the option of trading Patton if they see fit.

Absolutely, but he's not as good as Jesse Hogan, and he went with pick 20 and Dom Barry for pick 3 and pick 13. The difference is that Boyd has the #1 pick tagged on him (and is a year older - which is actually a disadvantage in my view). Tom Boyd or not, the value of pick 1 is severely exaggerated.

Agree that GWS will pick him. Has always been the plan.

Generally is. Always find it funny that pick 1 has to be a star...pick 2 is given every chance to blossom.
In this case, yes Boyd is the best kid in the draft. But if it was the case where GWS are looking at Patton's injuries, looking at Boyd + Cameron for the future and Patton as a third tall or even a tradable commodity, he would still get the weight of expectation.

Sort of reminds me of the flak Hodge got when Judd was a ready made star.
Not sure the Hawks would swap Hodge for Judd when you consider the versatility they get from him.

I think the best scenario is to let him go via free agency if he triggers an end of first round compensation. They would then get a decent pick, they reckon the top 25 is good quality, and they could get a second player they are after, like Delaney from us, or someone of equivalent value from some other club.

It is short-term pain for them but if they recruit well then one or two players moved on towards the end of their career could shave a year or two off the rebuild.

my opinion on dal is he is hardly injured
his style means he could easily play over 300 games for us and possibly, yes i said possibly, still be around IF we can have a crack at decent finals performances within 3 years

slim i know
but i rate him
so
therefore, i would rather keep him
