Jeff White?

Jeff White spoke today regarding his future with Melbourne, it seems the dees will off load him at the end of season due to thier youth policy. White believes he has 2 years left in him and wants to play on if it has to be at another club.

I wouldn't mind the swans getting him on a 1 year deal, just so it gives time for our young ruckman to develop and that Spida will most likely retire.

Re: Jeff White?

For the right price, sure why not.
A year to year contract as well, dont want another spider deal.
SS you said it..

Re: Jeff White?

As I said on the main board he's welcome to come to Sydney and clean Jollys boots.

If we can get him for basically nothing then maybe, if not then no way. The only reason I'd be interested is if Jolly were to go down injured we'd have LRT and Currie as our ruck combo. I'd rather we look at Brogan if he's available though.

Re: Jeff White?

no!!!!

we should concentrate on rebuilding... concentrate on young kids coming through the draft, not old timers strolling out of the nursing home

although, if we can get him for peanuts then his wise years may come as a benefit to the young whipper-snappers

Re: Jeff White?

errr ,....NO!

Think about it he was one of the few "senior players" left at Melbourne when decimated with injury and when BOTTOM LAST all year... still got dropped!

Is he suddenly going to regain his spring and enthusiasm and then miraculously meld in with SWANS & Jolly for a year or two???.... meh!!!

WE do not need any near 30 year old recruits EVEN CUZZ!!!....just makes the eventual retirement vacuum worse! at a time when GC17 & WS18 are being funded by AFL to poach all the avilable decent talent!

Re: Jeff White?

NO! In Fact. HELL NO!
No more stop gap solutions. It's Currie time!

Re: Jeff White?

He's been dropped this year from a strugging team (struggling is a nice word for it). We deserve better. Everitt was worth a shot on a short-term contract but our situation is different now.

Re: Jeff White?

If the Swans picked up White for next to nothing and were planning to use him as the THIRD ruckman then I believe it would be worth it for us.

I do get worried the Swans will trade for a ruckman and Currie will miss out on opportunities.

I would much rather see the Swans go for White or say a Peter Street with the thuoght process of having them on the list incase Currie or Jolly breaks down or needs a rest through the year.

Re: Jeff White?

Would be happy to take Jeff White, provided that he's behind Jolly & Currie in the pecking order. I want to see Currie given games next season. Roosy needs to remember what happened when he took over and started giving regular games and ground time to Jude, Fossie, Tadgh & Co. All of a sudden they looked like they could play the game. The young blokes that have been given a chance this season have more than held their own.

Timing is the essence!!!!!!!

Re: Jeff White?

didnt jolly specifically leave melbourne due to the fact that white got far more game time than him.

I dont think it was the fact that White was getting more game time than him just that he wasn't getting enough. When Jolly came to Sydney he still had to play second fiddle to Ball but he was at least getting a fair bit of TOG compared to his days warming the bench in Melbourne.

not entirely sure, but jolly was perceived as the back-up to white

oh well... their loss, our gain

we picked up a corolla, and they get stuck with a camel

Re: Yze and White delisted

no!!!!

why would we want guys who couldn't even crack into the melbourne line-up this year

Re: Yze and White delisted

White is a gun, gotta be better than spida. and Yze, havent seen much of him, is it an age thing? both are 30 31.

partially it is an age thing

but also when they have been on ground, they haven't been great

old players not performaing well, is the last thing we need

we should stick to youth

Re: Yze and White delisted

Yze was pretty good from memory. I reckon white along with Jolly, original Melbourne boys would work well.

Re: Yze and White delisted

Yze, no thanks. White if we can get for nothing then may be worth having as backup for Currie and Jolly. Imagine if we were in for a shot at top 4 next season and Jolly were to go down with a long term injury. We'd have Currie and LRT in the ruck.

yze for the last 2 years has offered the club nothing... look at this, when neitz retired and robertson got injured, yze still struggled to get a game

at white's age... he may be the next spida... i rather we kept our draft picks and invested in youth, and groomed guys like white and currie into ruck position
