I'm going for the popular opinion. I'd be happy to get Dawes on the list if we can't find a better dfa. I'd prefer him on the list over Stewart or O'Shea. He'd be good for the Magpies structure and could p lay when Dixon gets injured. I think he is a lawyer so he might not be keen on a short term move to adelaide for relatively little $. Ideally we wouldn't need a spot for Dawes but with one forward.. I'm happy to move on some depth back flankers.

Technically if a player is offered a contract and refuses it, he's not a DFA and has to go into the draft. But the club can agree to release him as a DFA, like we did with Ben Newton.

If the rule wasn't set up that way, somebody like Jaeger O'Meara could've been a DFA.

Sydney of all clubs could release him to us for the genorisity of giving them a top 10 pick to use this year, not sure how good a pick up he'd be though other than being ready made he's apparently average & as much their whipping boy as O'Shea is ours.

Reckon we'd do better if we could land Barrett or convince the Swans to release Xavier Richards for us instead.

The one who interests me most on that list is Dean Towers. Slightly maligned for making some poor decisions in key moments, but could be a reasonable second forward.

I'd have a look. Underrated player with a pretty good goal-kicking record. He's not really a proper KPF but he's at least tall enough to take some heat off of Dixon.

I don't rate Everett at all, but such is our poor depth at forward I would consider him for a rookie spot if he would take it. Every chance we can upgrade a rookie as injuries always happen

I know he aint the best but he is back up.

Dawes and its not even close. Clark a good chance to not play another AFL game even if he does get to another club.

I don't mean to be the insensitive type here but Mitch Clark is a hell no. Even if his body holds up, he is in a fragile state. I'm not sure we as a club need that influence. Dawes may be poor, but at least there is never going to be an issue with effort or negative effects / resources that are being used.

The cons list is just way too big
