That is the price you are going to have to pay for him though, it's not just the Vic media being bias. I personally wouldn't do that trade, but it will certainly take something close to that.
Butters would say no. Be pissed off at port for putting him up for trade and then request a trade to contending vic club the next year.

Player A who has demonstrated the ability to play AFL at a high level (AA squad in his second season) v player B who has played single digit games and hasn't done much of note in those games.

Both first round draft picks, only a few years difference in age.

Somehow player B is worth player A PLUS multiple high end draft picks.

The AFL world is quite whacked sometimes.

JHF is a potential star but he averages 18 disposals per game and has kicked 2 goals. It's not like he's tearing the comp apart.

A good comparison would be Sam Walsh in his year

Yeah I'm not trading zakk the big difference is JHF wants to leave .

It will but it shouldn't he wants to leave and they haven't put any development into him just used a single draft pick. It's not his fault the have pinned all there hopes on him.
The disgusting thing is we gave up Wingard, an out and out star, all Australian, for peanuts, yet JHF is worth the earth.

Agree completely.
But, like Garner, Lienert and one or two others, the head honcho doesn't rate him, so we may as well see if we can gt a 3rd rounder or something better for him.

Should be some depth in this Draft.
And haven't Garner and Lienert gone on to massive success at other clubs since they've been gone?

Correctly not rating the likes of Garner, Lienert and Frederick is one of the few things that Hinkley has ever gotten right.

What did the Dogs have to give up for Boyd?
Would have to be the most recent No1 draft traded within 2 years

Boyd went for pick 6 and Ryan Griffen (who was 28 at the time).

If JHF was to be traded to Port, two firsts and a later pick (round 3 or 4) sounds about right. Certainly wouldn't be including any of Ports young up and coming players to get JHF though. Rozee, Butters, Duursma, Bergman, Jones and Sinn should be off limits as they are the nucleus of young players that will be driving future success at the club.

Pick 6 and a 28yr old Ryan Griffen who was absolutely cooked at the time.

Griffen was not the superstar he used to be at the time of the trade with everyone realising his body was cooked but gws just sorely needed to lure players
