Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Z.Clarke would come in as no.1 ruck. Not needing someone to protect him. Throw in Thursty if need be. We still lack a ruck and midfield depth. (plus a few other positions but i think they are on the list just need development) Trade 1st pick for ruck, 2nd draft a mid, 3rd on Morris, 4th on crumbing forward or another mid. Get some mature mids in rookie draft and a developing ruck so we don't end in this position ever again. Plus if they come on then they are trade bait if they want more opportunity. Often a 2nd rounder at least.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

I think if we go Zac Clarke he will be first ruck for the majority of the season and that'll be part of why he comes. No need to go waste 3rd round pick on Maric as well. Besides it will be used for Steve Morris. Gus and Browne can give Clarke a break if he needs it in the season and Vicks will probably do 30% of rucking in games.

What if I said Nason for Maric?:thumbsu:

Will be plenty of player player trades this year. Draft not much chop

Mark Lock will be snapped up. Wouldn't mind a look at him depending on disposal.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Then obviously u would pull the trigger. If its a player we don't want to get a back up ruck fair enough. We need at least a first or second to pick a mid. Morris will take our 3rd.

Having said that, Morris will play back, as will Newman, Batch, Dea, Connors, Houli so all of a sudden Lids should be a mid. Conca will play full season hopefully, Helbig as well, our 2nd rounder as well and pick up a mature state league mid about 20-23 years old. Use 3 picks next year on mids. All of a sudden ruck is solved as is the midfield depth.

As bad as last night was the Kangas were carried by Harvey and Petrie. They will only last so long. We don't have those types at the moment. We will be gaining players without any required ones retiring.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Robbo just said on the Heraldsun live chat that we won't be chasing McIntosh...

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Yep good point about the 4 ruckman, but I would say one of those spots is Vickerys. I know he's more of a forward, but in today's footy, bean poles are a liability - i.e Browne and Graham.

Vickery is the Pinch hitter - and it times of emergency - he could be number 1 ruck.

So Vickery, Keep the X man and give him a go next year - then Maric and Clarke - Would be ideal.

If we can only get the 1 ruckman in, I guess I'd keep Browne over Graham.

I would not touch maric unless he is dirt cheap.

1st round pick for either clark/e
Keep Browne
Derickx will be a player- as good if not better than maric
take a rookie ruck (Leif Cope)

Richmonds Ruck Dept 2012
Clark or Clarke 23/25 yo
Vickery ..22 yo
Derickx..23 yo
Browne..21 yo
Cope ... 20 yo

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Just reading the Sydney board, and there is quite a bit of love for Thursty on there. Got me thinking a low cost fix for us would be Thursty for Seaby. We retain our picks for mids but buy some time to find the right ruckman when ready.

This is assuming we cant get one of the Clarkes or Hampson for a less than their worth trade.

Must have watched yesterday's game. Even the North fans were slagging him off after the game. Must say I am very relieved to hear it.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

There wont be as many delistings as some people think given the weakness of this draft. Expect us to complete the clean out next year when its a strong draft and we have 3 picks within the first 30.

Delisted:

1. Gourdis
2. Hicks
3. Taylor
4. Nason
5. Hislop
6. Jackson (if he cant be traded)

Expect Morton, Webberley, Farmer and Tuck to get one year extensions with the view to moving them on in 2012 with Mcguane (trade bait) whos contracted untill then.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

bit of a start to the silly season tradeing rumours. heard this (no reliability at all, forum talk/mate of mate scenario), Daniel Conners to North for S. Thompson. Dont really believe it but when I heard didnt exactly say no

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Would much rather Connors than Thompson and I'm sure North would much rather Thompson than Connors.

Jacko will stay. Seems everyone has forgotten about Westhoff, he is a certainty to go

Farmer makes the cut ? over jackson?

with the view to moving on in in 2012 i just stupid is that saying we held out no hope that morton or webberley will improve and become good players. both have plenty of upside

and tucky will play till he is about 40

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

This is the perfect year to pull the trade trigger with a shallow draft & a bumper crop the year after.Very exciting & important time for the tiges .The good thing is we know exactly what we need , Ruckman & Defenders especially someone to release Lids into a mid /fwd role.
We are in a very good position to trade with Foley,Edwards & Jackson & the compo 1st round pick to help us land some big fish possibly Mcguane as well to GWS.Hartley landed Houli & Grigg last year & i can't wait to see who he gets this year. One thing that is going to help is we are a far more attractive UNITED CLUB to come to now.Why would a Stefan Martin or a Zac Clarke not want to come to us if we get the $ right, lets face it Cotch,Dusty & Lids would make either of them look like a superstar all we want is a ruckman putting it to our advantage 50% of the time not the 12% that Graham gives us.Hampson would be a good option to if his 50% tap out record is accurate.
A big bodied type defender like a Troy Chaplin from Port would be ideal as well.
Good luck Blair get the job done!

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Don't think Connors should play back line, I have him at half forward/wing. If he can get his act together he is exactly the player we need. Whereas we have a surplus of Thompson types. He's far from interesting.

If they actually play Connors in that role like they did when he started then u make a good point. Otherwise we have a fair few Connors types too. Thompson is better than Thursty and McGuane etc and would replace Moore if he's no good.

Re: Trades/delistings/recruitment

Have not waded through this whole thread so apologies if this has been discussed...

I was a fan of Mitch Morton but to be honest we did not miss him this year much and there is no doubt he has plenty of talent.

We (he asked apparetnly) shifted him more up the field but for the right club... Mitch as a 3rd tall forward could be a very interesting asset to improve scoreboard hits.

We need a ruck...

Which clubs need a still relatively young & talanted forward who with an added pick might generate interest? Which clubs have a strong ruck division?

Morton a Perth boy... West Coast out I would say but Freo perhaps? (Keplar Bradley has had his one and only sort of solid season IMO)

Sydney?
Carlton?

Ideas??????
