Thanks bellzy. I'm starting to think that we won't be cutting any more players. Obst, Garlett and Wundke all showed some promise, but I don't think any of them warranted promotion after 12 months. Seven is probably as deep as we would want to go in any draft. I expect the club to take some underage prospects with late picks, considering the impact the Gold Coast is going to have on future drafts.

I do have a feeling we've see the last of old Obsty though. His late season form, coupled with his complete inability to make any sort of impact at AFL level when given an opportunity (granted, one game was impossible to do so), would really make a mature aged rookie be looked at twice. If Nathan Grima comes along as we all hope next year, then suddenly Obst's ability to play full back becomes a little redundant, and I don;t see him knocking out one of our forwards for a spot in the team.

As for possible list players up for delisting, someone in another thread very accurately pointed out that it's never too late to make a decision about these sorts of things, ala Thommo's contract, Makepeace a few years ago, etc etc.

As it stands, I believe we have 5 picks in the national draft, or 4 in the ND and 1 PSD. Wouldn't mind adding another pick or two, assuming we take the latter option and use a pick in the PSD.

I agree with your thoughts on Obst, he plays with good intensity, but his awareness is average and his kicking is suspect. Obst would have no chance of displacing any of the forwards.

He was told he was gone and no-one wanted a trade
then we did not trade and pick up a low pick or two
then no announced delisting
then turned up for fitness test
but didn't do the test ?

Wow, so Browny has been de-listed & Nathan Grima has been elevated to the senior list...

What happened to keeping Grima on the rookie list? I thought the AFL approved the request.

Must be a change in plan. They may go for all midfielders this coming draft and hope that Grima is the man to fill the position.

Herald Sun Phantom draft has us taking Hamish Hartlett at 9 & Mitch Brown at 27.

If the draft transpires as the HUN has predicted in this phantom draft, I would be very dissapointed as a North supporter. I think that getting Hartlett at no. 9 would be massive and most people on BF should be over the moon with that choice.

However, I am disturbed that North would choose Brown over Robinson (still available by that hypothetical at 27). Why would North go for another key forward when it is clear that the middle is where we fall apart?

What worries me most about Brown is the fact that he played the vast majority of his games at school footy. Not completely proven at the higher standards of TAC and the likes.

Massive gamble in my opinion.
