Trades: Round 9

Probably nothing this week. Houli looks toppy and there's 180k+ sitting there as a swap for Cotchin next week. Jack gave away about 6 free kicks dropping his score and looks ok for more $ yet..and guaranteed a game. Worst back >240K for Myers looks sensible.

its actually more like 160k and theres 210k if you trade for wellingham this week.

Correct, but you'd have to say the odds are far greater that Cotchin will play out the yr in the seniors, than Wellingham.

I see Cotchin as a player with the potential to be a keeper, and start on the ground. Much like Palmer. I rate him that highly already...

not even palmer is a keeper. first year players are inconsistant and are prone to needing to be rested. and people on the collngwood board think sharrod could play out most of the year.

Exactly. I'm looking to upgrade Palmer to Bartel, and have been questioned by a lot of people why I would bother. Based on the year so far, Bartel is averaging 25 more than Palmer. A good week for Palmer is 100 but for Bartel 150... A bad week for Palmer is the 40-70 range, Bartel 70-90 range.

Given I have Ablett, Thompson, Swan, Kornes and Stevens, the only way I can get Bartel is by upgrading Palmer. Fair upgrade I would think. Palmer may continue to get better, but he doesn't have a seasoned body and will most likely slow towards the end of the season... plus being a freo midfielder isn't the best thing...

Jeez Id love to see the rest of your team. Palmer is doing a perfectly fine job, and could average 90 odd from here on in, or at the very least 80. So is Bartel a priority for you? I think not.

In any case, why would you do this trade now? Its highly likely that Bartel is going to be at this price again at some point during the season. Whilst Palmer will peak at a much higher price than he is now. Why would you not just hold the trade, focus on other areas where Im sure you're very much struggling with (with that midfield as strong as it is), and trade Palmer to Bartel later in the year when your team is set?

my players that need upgrading are:

houli - to bartel this week
palmer - to kornes in 2 weeks after he scores badly against syd. heres hoping
myers - still a long way off
rioli - to BJ next week

i think i have reason to want to trade palmer considering the obvious weak link is myers who wont peak for a long time.

None of your reasoning makes any sense...sure you;re not an addicted trader ? Good luck with that.

I've got Jack/Palmer/Houli/Masten/Gamble/Rioli/Tippett/Ibbotsen and i've earmarked Palmer till round 22 unless injured.

Can u explain how is Myers is an "obvious weak link" again ?

I suppose I should clarify that I am looking to upgrade Palmer to Bartel in about 2-3 weeks, not this week.

My team at the moment is...

Backs: Cornes, Burg, Goddard, Milburn, Shaw, Ibbo, Wonna (look to upgrade Wonna/Ibbo)

Mids: Ablett, Thompson, Swan, Kornes, Stevens, Palmer (look to upgrade Palmer to Bartel)

Rucks: Cox, Simmonds

Fwd: Pav, Brown, Didak, Deledio, Porplyzia, Rioli, Cloke (upgrading Cloke this week to Chapman, and will upgrade Rioli to Riewoldt when he gets to about $340k)

I see more value in upgrading Palmer to Bartel than say Porplyzia to Franklin. Bartel is more of a sure thing, so that's why I see that as a priority trade over the next few weeks.

Is that good enough for you banana?

because i have obvious trade plans for the other 3 in my team that need upgrading which in 2 weeks will leave me with my 'ideal' team except myers who still wont be close to peaking.

i have 12 trades which i said above. so i am not an addicted trader.

I think you should wait dazza. Bartel will be at this price again and with a team as strong as yours you can more than afford to let palmer peak. Dont be too eager.

I have bigger problems cos my team is very ordinary compared to yours.

My forward line looks like this.

Pavich, murphy, BJ, Burton, Porp, Fevola, Brown (Riewoldt, N thomson)

Thinking of trading.. Riewoldt to Valenti to free up some cash.

It gives me alot of money and i think my forward line is ok without him. Fev is the other option but he is in great form this year and only averaging 2 points less then reiwoldt but is worth $ 50,000 less.

Someone talk me out of trading riewodlt.

yeah mate i am trading in bartel but its for houli. palmer goes for kornes in 2 weeks if kornes has a bad one against syd.

Fair enough..u've got some trades left. It looks like a damn solid team NOW tho so whats your hurry ? You know u will never have an "ideal" team due to injuries and form yo yo's...that term is just a pipe dream.

What are your current reserves ?...is Myers a weak link coz u dont have a playing backline ressie ? You got some cash in the bank ?

Who was on your bench before Riewoldt got injured??
Riewoldt's injury isn't as bad as first thought and is a test this week to see if he can play. If you're going to trade out someone it has to be Nathan Thompson no idea why you would have such an expensive player on your bench, but then that leaves the trouble of who to bring off for Riewoldt...

Either way it looks as though you are going to have to trade 2 forwards regardless. IMO if anyone Fevola/Porp and Thompson. But really trading out Fev/Porp is a waste. Ahh i got no idea . All i can say is whatever you do don't trade out Riewoldt. Ihave no idea how you got your forward line as it is

spot on. my reserves are

SDT
Proud

Masten
Bird

West
Meesen

Gamble
Tippet

Backs and Rucks are obviously a big weakness

I traded cyril rioli for brad johnson 2 weeks ago but i have alwasy had nathan thomson on the bench. It really is a waste isnt it. Whats the difference in trading reiwoldt, he is only averagin 2 points more than fev.
